The original Sabbath was from sundown Friday to Saturday evening. Where in the bible does it tell Christians to change it to Sunday or was that a Roman decision?

Thanks for the info. I heard somewhere along time ago it was the Romans to give them all the same day off to increase the attendence at the Coliseum Games.

It's actually not in the Bible. It was a decision made church leaders to get more people into the pews. They noticed that the pagans were whooping it up on Sunday (get it? Sun-God...Sun-day?) and many Christians were joining in, instead of attending the church. There were a lot of observances that were modified because the pagan rituals were so attractive. Christmas was not an actual 'celebration'. At it's root is the Christ Mass, and all masses were solemn occasions filled with reflection and meditation (boring!). If you check out some of the traditions, rituals and, especially, artwork you will find a lot of spillover from the pagans. For example, the halos surrounding the heads of the saints are also borrowed from pagan tradition. The 'light-disk' surrounding the head, in artwork, represents an element of divinity. The figures are bathed in the light of the Sun-God. There is nothing in the bible that mentions the Saints having halos, but we still indicate the divine 'goodness' or righteousness by surrounding their heads with light. The bible makes no mention of a Christmas Tree but, following the pagan tradition, we decorate our representation of the Tree of Life every year. You wont find mention of eggs or bunnies in the Gospels, but these pagan fertility symbols show up in our kids' Easter Baskets. Makes you think, huh?!

It is not in the Bible! The sabbath was only ever kept by the Israelites as it was a covenant between the Lord and them. It was never meant for the Gentiles to keep. We put aside one day of the week to spend some time with the Lord in his house and it really doesn't matter which day it is because we are not bound by any covenant.

There are a couple of reasons why the day of worship changed. First, the Sabbath (Saturday) was the day the disciples would go to the synagogue to worship with the Jews (and usually end up preaching to them about Christ). The Christians then would get together on the first day of the week so they could do their own worship.

We do not see an "official" change in the Bible, but we do see a precedent set by the disciples themselves.

JN 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

AC 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

The first day of the week was the day Jesus rose from the dead so it made sense to celebrate and worship Him then.

A theological reason why there was a change is because the word "sabbath" means "to rest from one's works." As Christians, we now rest from our own works all the time. Our salvation is not through our own works but only through the finished work of Christ on the cross so now we have entered into the "sabbath-rest". This rest is not limited to only one day, but every second of every minute of every day. We permanently rest from our (spiritual) works now.

HEB 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

So in basic terms because you won't be able to instruct that the Sabbath replaced into replaced you come back to a decision to attack all Sabbath keepers. it really is a very sturdy thanks to get your aspect for the time of attack the folk not the perception. have you ever been to my church? did you recognize ways I tithe? Your argument is a funny tale. in basic terms because you're saying you are able to instruct that you at the prompt are not meant to tithe which includes your income would not replace the actual actuality the the Sabbath is ideal interior the eyes of God. and admittedly i do not see your information. Jesus did not look to recommendations even as the undesirable female threw the little bit of money she did have interior the treasury. Or replaced into this not a approach of tithe in accordance to you. instruct me incorrect WITH SCRIPTURE i will replace I have not difficulty bending to the favor of God. it really is what He needs.

I do not know if it says it in the bible. but I do know where the sabath comes from. It has to do with the creation in Genesis. On the 7th day God rested. Jews use a different calender then we do, I forget whats different about them. But they believe that the week starts on sun, therefore the 7th day would be sat. While the "modern" calender has mon. being the 1st day of the week, therefore sunday is the sabath

Hmmm, days of the week named to honor:
the Sun
the Moon
Tiw, Norse God of War
Odin, chief Norse God
Thor, Norse God of Thunder
Frigga, Norse Goddess of Marriage
Saturn, Roman God of Harvest

Anybody want to claim that the bible designates any of these as the sabbath?

People make such a big deal about this subject. God said work 6 days and rest on the seventh. Some people's 7th day falls on a tuesday, or a wednesday, or even a friday. As long as you put asside one day for the Lord, that is all we are asked to do.

You can even spend time worshiping or praying to God in your closet if you wish.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

Just put asside one day for the Lord. If it falls on Sunday, Great! IF it falls on Saturday, Great! No where is it written that we have to attend chruch on wednesday evening, but we do, to get that extra amount of being spiritually energized in mid week, to get us through until it's time to attend Church, what ever day you worship.

It was changed from Sat. to Sun due to Christ resurrecting from the dead on Sunday (original Easter.) Easter culminates the the reason Jesus came to us making atonement for the sins of mankind. If no Easter SUNDAY no salvation. In a manner of speaking, "mission accomplished" took place on Sunday.
