This is like asking how serious we should take science, money, health, or any other subject of importance to you. Religion is a set of values, even those that beleive in nothing, have a reason for holding this beleive. Like it or not, that is their religion. And like it or not, if they strongly profess that there is nothing, they are strongly religious, they are just professing a different religion.

Put simply, I beleive we should become professional (that is, take very seriously) anything that affects us in our daily lifes on a regular basis. For example, like it or not, we all have bodies, we have to feed them, keep them in shape, and cloth them, so therefore we should take health very seriously. Keeping along these lines, like it or not, we all use money to some degree. So therefore we should all learn how to handle money at least as good as a book keeper. Likewise we should learn about various sciences each to the degree that they affect our lives.

But most importantly, I think religion is secondary to science. We should first turn to science to answer the questions we want answered. This gives us logical, prooven explanations that we cannot argue with unless we should put foreward a new scientific paper to disprove the current facts. But only when science cannot answer our questions, only then should we turn to religion. For example, science does not tell us if god exists or not, or if there is life after death, because science cannot proof these facts beyond doubt. However, while religion can answer these questions without problem because religion does not deal in streight lines and logic like science. Even those that choose to beleive there is no god or life after death, have a definite answer to their question, difinite to the indivudual that asked, but different to others.

As for the bible, it is scientific fact that this wounderful book was made up by a roman king who kept parts of the gospels (there are over 30, not just 4), and many other books of the time, and included only what he wanted. This clearly states that the bible is not a work of god, but man. This was done by the roman emporor 300 years after the supposed death of Jesus. The reason, because the roman empire was getting so large that it needed a religion to help control the outer parts of its terroritories. It was the son of the emporer who later became emporer himself that made the catholic religion compuslory and they then began killing those that did not follow it.

Think carefully about what to beleive, if you accept current scientific proof and facts (facts not theories) regarding the bible, then you must also accept that the catholic church was built on a hypicrotical grounding. Therefore, any religion based also on the catholic relgion (muslim, protestant, johova witness, hari krishna, born again christians, and many many others), are also false. This means that there are very few true religions around, buddist being the one that the catholic religion is strongly based on, the major difference being that the buddist religion does not power hungry like the catholic religion and any other religion based on it.

So bascally, I beleive that we need both science and religion in our lives, as a famous genius once said, "Science without relgion is blind, Religion without science is stupid". If you find out who it was, please let me know! Thanks!

It should be taken very seriously. Here recently the world has taken a turn for the worst it almost feels like over night. The minute we started turning our backs from GOD, everything started going down. People don't care about anything and don't believe in anything therefore what's the purpose for life. They have no regard for life. I think if you watch you will see the world will get a whole lot worst and it isn't just coincidence.

First religion was in place to bring in a control on behaviours and characters but as a few started to see the fear and respect given by others, the advantage to cheat and mislead started.

If you see the basic principle or preaching by any religion, it is to be righteous, friendly, respect other living beings.

If you follow these principles seriously regardless which religion you practise, you are one of the Nobel mankind following the unified religion of humanity.

Further to this if you have any doubts abt religious practises pertaining to any religion on earth get in touch and I'll try to give you the orgin and reasons.

In II Peter 2, verses 1 and 2, it says that there are going to be teachers who mock the teaching of Jesus Christ dying for our sins. I Corinthians 15, verses 3 and 4 says Christ died for our sins, he was buried and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Now, if the resurrection is just symbolical, then the death must be symbolical. His death was literal. His resurrection is literal. If you don't keep the resurrection, you cannot go to heaven and that is Romans chapter 10, verses 9 and 10. You must accept the literal bodily resurrection of Christ.

Taking the bible literally, it was Sir Isaac Newton and today he's claimed by the scientists of the world to be the greatest mind scientifically to ever exist in history, said just before Christ returns, ministers will mock the idea of a literal Bible. And Sir Anderson who did the 70 weeks of Daniel 9:24 said the same thing. They will mock the literal interpretation of the Holy Word of God. Stick to it and believe what it says literally.

I believe in God.
But, I will not discuss it with anyone else. I do not like christianity pushed onto me, even if I am born into christianity, I did not ask for it. Revelations or anything with all of the hypocrisy and wars on this planet.
I dont presently give two hoots about religion
and the people pushing it.
God and humans are not the same.
I am losing my faith in this world, mostly it has to do with heartless people, not God.
I do not try to theorize God, or ask how to prove GODS existence.
Perhaps I dont have a full understanding. Now a war in Lebanon, and Israel, yet Jesus comes from nazareth, and no one is christian but rather muslim. So confusing to me. I like it simple, God and my belief, very few words are necessary.

Spiritual development is the highest purpose and meaning for man to connect with the power of benevolence. Religion tends to oppose this personal development, misleading the gullible masses into believing that they are justified in their narrow minded ways and man-made prejudices that are held to be "sacred." One should take very seriously the distinction between the two.

very seriously. you see, this life is a test. this is a test to see whether you do good in this life and worship God, not Jesus, God. what you do and how you follow your religion is what will take you to heaven or hell. people take religion as a joke, saying that a person only lives once and that they should enjoy their life while they can, but they don't know that this life is VERY VERY VERY VERY short and that life in the hereafter is going to last for all eternity, unlike this life which lasts for a few decades. so choose and follow your religion wisely. take this example, would you like to do whatever you want for a minute and live the rest of life as a living hell or follow and obey God for a minute and spend the rest of your life in happiness and joy in heaven?

I think that religion should be taken as seriously as a person wants it to be taken; if a person wants to go to church every single Sunday and read the Bible a whole bunch of times, then he/she should do that. If a person only wants to attend church every now and then and not read the Bible that much, than he/she should do that.

When you can answer how life was created on earth - then you will take religion seriously.

Explain how life came from non-living material. It can't! And it couldn't happen in the beginning - which means there was a creater.

Religion is just a path some people take in order to discover who they really are. I think what people should be taking seriously is the little voice inside of them that tells them who they are and they are wonderful beings.
