First, depending on your age, you need anywhere from 1200-1500 calories (for adult women) and 1700-2000 calories (for teenage girls). If you eat 600 calories a day your metabolism WILL go into starvation mode and you WILL stop losing weight.. for a period of time. However, your body will not let you just die, which would happen if it wasnt getting the calories it needs to function. So, after it realized you aren't going to feed it, and this takes some amout of time since you are still feeding it a little, it will start "feeding" itself. It will start by "eating" your fat, then it will start breaking down the muscle. Fortunately for you, it won't break down your bone so you will still have those, but they will become weak from not getting calcium and they will break and become brittle. THIS is how an anorexic becomes skinny.

Take it from someone who struggled with weight.. though I never considered myself anorexic, for over a year, I ate one meal a day on most days, mostly from lack of appetite, and I maintained a very unhealthy 200lbs for the entire time. My doctors answer to my weight problem and why I couldn't lose was BECAUSE I WAS NOT EATING.

Don't do anything so unhealthy as only eating 600 calories per day. If you are concerned about your weight see your doctor or a nutritionist to see exactly how many calories you NEED to consume. Then go on a healthy diet eating lean meat, RAW fruits and veggies, and whole grains. Then go out and do some exercise. But make sure you are eating.

600 calories isn't enough for anybody to adequately survive on. I don't recommend it because your body will eat itself when you burn your beyond 600 calories. And it starts with muscle and fat, so you look more wraith-like than skinny. Not good.

If you starve yourself at 600 cals a day, your body will think that it is being deprived of nutrients and will store fat and protein instead of burning them. Then you gain weight instead of losing. Try to eat 5 small meals evenly spaced throughout the day. Healthy meals with fruits and veggies and good protein in it. No soda, lots of water.

Your body will go into starvation mode. The thing with Anorexic people is that they maintain their lack of eating for a very, very long time. And most people don't notice people are becoming anorexic util it is toolate because it takes the body a long time to give up its store of fat after it goes into starvation mode. So, a person with anorexia could lose weight, then maintain a certain weight for a long time even though they are still starving themselves. Then, once the body completely gives in, it will give these stores of fat up. But this is EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY!!! In case you haven't read the statistics, many anorexics DIE when their body just gives in.

Most people who don't have the disorder will end up becoming starved or food and eating before this depletion happens.. Usually they go on a big sugar binge because it has been completely depleated from their body. Every ounce of fat from that will be stored as fat, as the body thinks that it is starving because you're not giving it enough fuel to function. And then, once you reach your 'goal' weight and start to eat more amounts again, you'll put on every ounce you lost, and most probably more, because your body is saying "Crap, that was horrible, I'm not going to let that happen again!" and will build up your fat stores at at alarming pace.

Please, cutting your fuel intake is not a weight loss answer! Yu don't want to lose your weight fast and then end up putting it back on, you wan to lose it gradually and permanently. The BEST and most effective answer is simply drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, excercising moderately for 45 minutes 5 days a week, and eating healthily, which means cutting down on sugar and saturated fats!
