On both comparable engine choices, the Camaro would win. The 0-60 time of the Camaro Z28 (5.7L V-8 305 bhp) is about 5.2 seconds 0-60. That's faster than that of a Mustang GT (4.6 V-8 260 bhp) 5.5 seconds. Also, that's not even the SS. Some SS times were around 4.9. Also, same goes for the V-6 versions of both. The Camaro is rated at 200 hp and the Mustang is 190 hp with less torque.

Depends on the type of Mustang and Camaro you're talking about. The RS Camaros were only 6 bangers, the Z28 was a fast 8 banger, but an SS would smoke it. Mustangs range from a 4 banger to an 8, but there is a wide selection of Mustangs to chose from, all of which have different modifications.

are you talking both V6's or V8's? V6 drag race, as bad as I hate to say it the camaro would probably win. V8 drag race would be a lot closer, but I would lean towards the mustang. Autocross, the mustang all the way, better handling car.

2000 Camero would win, because they put more power to the ground. **I am Ford Mustang lover, and my family drag races nothing but mustangs)

The V8 Chevy accelerates faster than the V8 non Shelby GT. keep this in mind, 2000 was a while back so one had many years to modify the vehicle. Also consider that wear and tear reduces power.

i hate to admit it cause my blood runs Blue Oval Blue, but in stock trim the Camaro would beat the Mustang in every thing but the auto cross. It wasn't til the terminator cobras that Ford really had the advantage cause that baby would kill a z28 or an SS. damn ugly *** camaros

well if your going to bring in the 2000 camaro ss we might as well bring in the svt cobra R mustang. 385hp and deleted options it was a light autocross machine. it would whip the camaro on the autocross but it would be close on the 1/4 mile.
