NO! Once we allow one bible, and or type of prayer, we have to allow it ALL? And as a christian I personally wouldn't really be comfortable having to sit through say a satanic ritiual, or prayer, or whatever it is they do.

No! Because of the seperation of church and state, and there are too many people in schools today who don't use the Bible as the lexitron of their religion. The founders of this country decided not to have a national religion, and that by asking children to pray a prayer that they don't believe in or is not part of their religion, you are making them different, and subject to ridicule, and ostracising by their fellow students and even some teachers. Some kids are different enough without having to pray to whatever god they believe in while in school.

Most religions have a litergy that if you say a prayer to a different god than the one you believe in, you'll be forever condemned to torment. Not everyone in this country is a Christian, and the government had better recognize that before trying to pass a law saying that the Bible will be taught in school.

In high school, one of the first things in my English Literature book was a part of Genesis. Due to religious and logical reasons, I refused to read it in a textbook or do the assignment that followed, even though we were supposed to look at it as a literary work and not a religious work. There would be an awful lot of that in schools everywhere if they make a law like that in this country.

The Bible should be banned from public schools for the same reasons that Farenheit 451 is banned, and a Catcher in the Rye is banned etc... and so on and so forth. Prayer was not taken out of the schools, prayer led by teachers was. No it should not be brought back as we are a secular nation.

Absolutely!! If someone does not want to pray, no one is forcing them to . But others who want to, have a right to. Back when they had prayer in schoolsk, they did not have the riotous behavior then that they do today. They were more respectful then towards eachother and to the teachers.

With shootings like the collenbind, they ask why did this happen, why did Jesus let this happen. Some say, ' its because Jesus wasn't allowed in school. Jesus will step back and let things happen to show people what things are like when he is not invited into a situation.

It's situations like these school shootings and people going postal etc , that everyone needs to make sure they know where they are going when they die. we are not promised tomorrow, or an hour from now, or even one second from now. We don't know when our time on earth is up. God does though. So people need to turn their lives over to the Lord and accept Jesus as thier savior before they died.

It's like spiritual insurance. The best part is that it's free for the asking. You get car insurance, house insurance, health insurance, so why not invest in spiritual insurance. Jesus paid the premiums in full for us when He layed down His life for us on the cross. If you havn' t accepted Jesus as your savior, don't wait for the eleventh hour so to speak, because Jesus just might show up and 10:45. That's figuratively speaking. It because we dont' know when He is returning that we all need to be spiritually ready for Him.

Absolutely. The rights of everyone are affected, actually. Christians cannot pray in schools, so where are their rights? You can't even say the word 'Christmas' anymore!

Think about it this way...look at how the schools used to be when they had prayer. Obedient children, organized structure. Now not only do teachers have to bring bodyguards to some schools, some schools are so bad off that the state pays for vouchers to get out of the area. Bring it back!

No. A secular goverment protects the rights of people of ALL religions. If you allow any prayer in school, you are favoring the religious over the non-religious. To the people who say that the majority of people in their area want prayer in school and we should be able to vote for it... I say, what if your area was suddenly populated with Muslims, or Buddhists, or people of any other religion and they decided that "their" prayer should be said in school. What if they read a Muslim prayer before a football game? Their opinions would change...
Religion should be a personal relationship between you and your God.

Definitely. Just look at the state of our education system since prayer and the Bible have been banned. There is no more respect for teachersp ,rinciples, other students, etc. Pretty sad when you have to pass through a metal detector nowadays to attend school.

Yes, we should demand children spend all day praying to every deity that ever existed. We want to make sure we cover all the bases.

Perhaps teachers should spend their time teaching valuable subjects rather than wasting it promoting mythology as if it were real.

I began attending public school in 1955 and do not ever recall any teacher offering prayers in school. The idea that praying was common in schools is another one of those lies Christians like to tell.

The ignorance level demonstrated on Yahoo proves that children need to learn history far more than they need to be taught mythology. The founding fathers were not "Christians" and the US was not founded on the bible.

"In God We Trust" was adopted in 1954, not 1776.

These ignorant people who continue to make those claims need to return to the classroom and be taught facts instead the crap they learn from their praying teachers.

I think so but i think it should be as kind of a student group thing to try and avoide the junk with seperation of church and state and as a group they could work twoards diffrent things and even be allowed to speak and hold rallys and events like other groups because they would be speaking for their group not the school.
