What you need to pack depends on you, but you may need to know some facts so you can take a better decision:

1. Language. People here basically speak only Chinese, very few speak other languages, so you better bring some English-Chinese dictionary

2. Medicine. Chinese medicine is more natural, for Chinese bodies, they have not worked for me. You better want to bring some "Aspirina" or "Pepto" to avoid eating tons of small pills and tablets per day for a simple cold.

3. Clothes. This is really cheap here, so you better don't bring so much, better bring money to buy all kind of clothes here.

If you are female, consider whether where you are going has different ideas of modesty than here, and whether skirts are more acceptable than pants.
