Aside from making sure she has shots (she does) and takes her heartworm (she does) and the mice haven't been poisoned (they aren't - we live in the country, so no fear of neighbors and we don't use poison)..... all that aside, my cat is catching the mice and the dog is eating them. What a power team! BUT, my dog ate one whole in like 5 seconds. She only weighs about 8 pounds, so I'm wondering if she'll be able to digest it or if I'll be making an expensive trip to the vet tomorrow. There really wasn't much chewing, just a lot of gulping and it was gone. Anyone know if she'll be able to "pass it out"???

I can't tell you if she'll be able to digest it or not. You'll just need to keep a close eye on her. If she starts to get lethargic or show any "unusual" signs of anything, she may be blocked and be in need of veterinary care.

Glad to hear you're preventing so many illnesses from your little girl. But JSYK.....your dog is likely to get tape worms from eating mice so keep an eye on that too.

I think your pet is in good shape. Dogs and Cats can digest very well. If this is a occasional thing, I would not worry about it at all, but if it is more than two or three a week, it may be a problem with the odds. I am sure Dogs can handle almost any disease a rodent might be passing out, but then there is HIV and Rabies to think about. Do you have any of these in the area you live in? By the way, I am no expert. So check on it with a Vet.

We used to have a Springer Spaniel when I was young & him & my cat kinda had a little operation going on too!!! The cat would chase the little guys & the dog wouyld scoop em up kinda toss em up in the air and swallow em whole!!! He never had any problems w passing em but he was bigger tahn your dog!!! Id keep an eye on her & maybe give her a little cod liver oil(you can use vegetable oil too they just like cod liver oil better) & that will kinda help w passing anything that may be a little large. It will kinda act like a lubricant. Best of luck!!!
yeah just read sum of the other answers ...make sure you give her a wormer to be sure she doesnt get any parasites from the wild mices!!

Whoa. Thats a craaazy dog!!!

My fear are the bones... usually its not a good idea for dogs to eat whole animals because the bones don't digest, and unlike cats which easily "furball" up the stuff, dogs may have trouble.

Keep an eye on her!

You're KIDDING,right! The dog should be doing her OWN hunting!!! That's what dogs DO!!

Around here, mice are called M&Ms & just like candy, you can't over-indulge or you'll get fat. Cut down on the feed if it's eating LOTZ of mice.

DON'T get all panicky,OK? It's NO BIG DEAL.

My German shep mix once ate the really D-Con rat poison. It became in my storage and the canines were given up on her hind legs to inspect the field... which include her mouth. after I stated the chewed field on the floor, I referred to as the poison administration center. My canines had curiously sampled between the little packing packing containers, and had no longer even complete it off. Thank God, she might want to no longer have beloved the style. besides, Poison administration said she had no longer eaten sufficient to damage her, yet to take her to the vet if i became nevertheless worried. i did not, and he or she became nice. if you're canines ate somewhat one mouse that had already eaten the D-Con, i'm keen to wager there wasn't sufficient poison to break your canines.
