Hmmm, this is actually two separate questions.
One. If you do not want to develop feelings for a certain someone, then break off contact with them, and do not allow them into your life.
Two. If you are doing this to avoid ever getting hurt again, well I recommend taking the distance a bit further. The only way to keep from getting hurt is to commit yourself to a mental hospital, where they will lock you in a padded room, remove all dangerous items and drug you into a unthinking stupor. (Yes, this is sarcasum! Not a real example!)
Basically, because you live, you run the risk of getting hurt. What you need to do is develop a method of "cautious optimism" where you can experience what life has to offer, but minimize your ability to allow people into your life.
This is a very hard thing to achieve, and since I have many loving friends, families and loves, I recommend steeling up your courage and just take part in life and love. Sure, you will get hurt, but when you are alive, you live, you heal!
Good luck and stay out of Hermit Caves!

First let's begin by saying you can't think your falling in Love with someone.either your in love with this person or your not. Second not all guys or girls are the same. What's wrong with people so many have affairs or sleep around thinking the grass is greener on the other side. When it's not. People are blinded by the fact that it's our own expectations in a relationships that we don't agree with .Not the person. So before you go on putting these Stop signs up every time you have a feeling your about to fall in Love. Question your expectations not your true feelings.okay. Good-Luck.

To loosely quote Aerosmith "Fallin in love is so hard on the knees". Love can be many things from the greatest thing to ever happen to you, to the worst thing to ever happen to you, and anywhere in between. What you need to figure out is why do you want to stop? Are you really afraid of getting hurt or are there other reasons? You can't be afraid, because you never know when this will be the one to spend the rest of your life with. I you dwell on the past the present will pass you by.

Is this person good for you? If yes, do you want love to stop only b/c you don't want to get hurt again? Love is about taking chances. Sometimes you just have to take that blind leap of faith to find happiness. Try not to let your demons prevent you from being happy. I am going through the same thing right now. Good luck to you.

I don't think you can stop yourself from falling in love. If you've been hurt before you are obviously scared but that's not going to stop you from falling again. Be cautious but give the guy a chance.

Well, before you 'STOP', why don't you find out if they feel the same way. If you just back out, and never know, you might miss out on your one-true-love. I'm being serious, it is better to to get hurt and get over it, then never know. You can't just STOP falling in love, if you feel this way, they will always have a place in your heart no matter what.

If you are too weak to stop falling love, then just go with it. Youve gotten through it before, you'll be ok if it happens again. Remember, what doesnt kill us, only makes us stronger. Maybe you should give the person a chance, instead of figuring their going to hurt you.

Strange thing.. you worried about getting hurt but what about hurting the other person?
If you don't want to go for it.. then let the person no that you are just to afraid to find love again.

Do not communicate with this person at all....not even a little bit. Treat this person like the plague. Consider this person a disease that is trying to suck the life out of you, damage your spirit, or hurt your family. If you get involved with this person and you honestly know this person is NOT GOOD for you then eventually they will SUCK THE LIFE OUR OF YOU, DAMAGE YOUR SPIRIT, and HURT YOUR FAMILY. They will hurt your family because when your hurting your family is hurting. Stay true to yourself and if that little voice is telling you this person IS NOT GOOD....then LISTEN!! Your life depends on it. Take this very seriously because the wrong decision could possibly ruin your entire life.

When most people fall in love, they trip over their heart. Don't fall in love, but be in love. Don't take past pain to a new relationship.
