I'm assuming you want to use the lemon juice to lighten your hair in the sun? This is very damaging to your hair and will cause it to dry and become brittle and likely to break. If you have dark hair, you are much more likely to experience damage (as well as orangy tones). If you use a strong conditioning treatment afterwards it will help smooth the hair follicles but the damage will still exist. However, a lot of people have lightened their hair this way and not experienced terrible damage. I think it depends on the make up of your hair and how many times you do it and how long you stay out in the sun. Good luck!

Your hair has a protective acid mantel on it. This acid mantel is very important to the overall condition of your hair. Lemon juice, (as well as Sun In, staight peroxide, ) all that stuff EATS AWAY that protective mantel on your hair. Once that acid mantel is damaged, it is very difficult to repair it. Shiny, healthy hair will be a thing of the past if you damage that acid mantel.

Depending on your natural haircolor, if you combine lemon juice with the sun, you can end up with a brassy, orangey color that is not very attractive. Plus, the finer in texture your hair is, the more you'd really want to stay away from the lemon juice in the hair thing. Fine hair doesn't have the strength to put up with a lot and you can end up with a lot of breakage if you do it for a long period of time, especially if you already have color/perm in your hair.

Save the lemons for lemonade! YOu can also take a half of a lemon and dip it in baking soda and polish your silver and take of stains from the counter top.

It seems like shampoos have citrus in their products for the occasional deep cleansing wash your supposed to put your scalp and hair through every once in a while. Im sure that dry out the scalp because its meant to lift all the build up. So Id say yeah, citrus type products and lemons? having a drying affect. Just follow up with a good conditioner or oil.

I hope this will help you! Good Luck! :)

Can you make your hair lighter by using lemon juice?

Not exactly, Lemon juice by itself will not lighten the hair. Lemon juice AND the ultraviolet rays of the sun will lighten your hair. (Similar to a product called "Sun-In" ) The drawback here is dryness and if your is dark to begin with, it will turn orangutan orange! This job is better done by a professional. If you are already a dark blonde or very light brown you can probably use the lemon juice and sun method. Be sure to buy a really good "conditioning pac" for after. Also the lemon, sun method needs about 5 hours in the sun. (Not good for the skin so wear sun block!)
