Do you feel that in the effort to be Politically Correct we are becoming Historically Stupid?

Examples are: re-writing history, distorting facts of history so not to hurt anyones feelings.

A good book to read is "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James W. Loewen

Sadly, if you are a white Christian conservative you can be censored and offended without worry or care for civil rights

I think people are becoming waaaaay too obsessed with being "politically correct". It's because of all the racial issues (blacks are the ones pushing racism now), that we had to start being "politically correct". Once that started, everyone was becoming offended by everything. So now, someone could almost sue you just for saying hi to them. People need to chill out, and worry about themselves for a change. They need to start looking at what they themselves can do to make the world a better place, instead of thinking so much about what everyone else can do for them. People are so greedy and selfish.

HAHA! Good question. I love that book. I was attracted to it because of the stuff about Columbus, but the rest of the book was good too. It was a tad too left-leaning for my tastes, but still good.

Oddly enough some of my favorite history books now are the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader's. They are funny but still they really try to tell history with humor and style. They are honest and balanced too.

Yeah totally agree. Political Correctness is overrated, we'll always offend someone, it's pointless. There's no need towarp history just to make some whiner happy!

We are becoming just like the people in Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451. We're definitely historically stupid.
