what figures are in your "average rainfall"?... is it in inches per year? and what is the area it covers? how many square miles?

you can figure... 1 in. = 2.54 cm.
so.. if you had 1 cm^2 of area on the ground...

1000 cm of rain would produce 1 liter on that small area.. now multiply that by the total area..

do it the same way.. but with your figures.... is your area like the Area of Texas?

ok.. after you get the amount in gallons.. figure in the time

that much water fell in how much time?

1 liter per year per cm^2?.. how many hours in a year?

24hr/day * 365 day/yr= 8760 hrs/yr

so then you have (1 liter/8760 hrs per cm^2)*(number of cm^2 in the state)

= (number cm^2 in state)/8760 liters/hr
