Well, since you ask, the ignorance that I saw on this site lead me to decide that I should find out more about Mr George W Bush's enemy of choice, so I have been reading up, not only about the Qur'an, but also about Muslim history and beliefs.
I have no plans to become a Muslim, though I feel I am understanding them better, and I sympathise with them completely.
What I really don't understand is how Mr George W Bush has managed to make so many idiot Americans believe that ALL Muslims are blood-crazed, axe wielding, homicidal, suicide bombers, whose dearest (and only) aim in life is to end it by killing as many Americans as possible?
There are, after all, far more blood-crazed, axe wielding, homicidal AMERICANS whose dearest (and only) aim in life is to end it by killing as many Americans as possible!, but that seems to be OK, because they are Americans.
And history shows repeatedly that Muslims are incredibly tolerant of Christians, in a way that, (given the way Christians have treated them), they simply do not deserve.

You have not specified whom you are referring to in your question. Anyway nobody will know and understand what an Islam is just by watching the media news. All that is happening gives the public an idea of what a muslim does but definitely an idea which is contrary to the reality. Is Islam just about fighting and killing?Definitely not.By reading the Quran do you think will make one an expert? Of course not. What is the use of reading if you do not have the full understanding and faith? The Holy Quran is a holy book to serve as guide for ones deeds and actions. You need to have faith followed by good actions. You have to know God and this are all contained in Islamic teachings. ASSALAMU ALAIKUM!(Peace be with you)

I don't have to read quran or watch CNN. I can make up my own mind and I do not need the media to tell me what kind some people are. The media don't do that anyway.
While not all muslims are terrorists, a very high % of terrorists are muslims. Bombing, killing, beheading, many archaic and medieval practice (such as no music, no dancing, no TV watching, no movies, no education for women and oppressive treatment of their women) all tells me one thing: It will take a long long long.........LONG time for muslims to come to the 21st century.
No good book of ANY religion (including quran) will tell their people to do all that. Yes, I have not read quran. But then, I don't have to. I look around to those people who follow their good book.
It is just a bunch of idiots that got together to give the whole Islam a bad name. It is those people to whom cultured muslims (I am sure a silent majority of that exist) should talk to and teach them what is acceptable and what is not.
So, it is not a generalization of muslims. Please understand that.
Educated people are intelligent enough to form their own opinions and judge them accordingly. Any amount of defensive argument from the muslim community does not change that opinion of the general public.
So, don't tell me that the media made me do it. I can see it with my own eyes.

huh? If I ever said I knew everything about Islam I musta been suffering from a head injury. which is quite possible. Though Muslims aren't making themselves look very good. At leas not those that run the terror organizations. And the Quran doesn't just teach peace love and all that crap. They do say that it is ok to kill those that do not follow the religion, and threaten it. Muhamid, Budah, and all there other leaders weren't all butterflies and roses. I don't need the media to tell me this, basic history lessons do the trick.

I believe in God, not Allah. Have You read the Holy Bible? Who are You so angry at? Who said We think We know all about Islam and Muslims? There are good and bad in all different Cultures. I saw the two very ugly questions that were deleted. But You got to post them, for a minute or so. Don't accuse everyone, for something someone else may have said. And I have to admit, You are not making a very good example of Your Culture.

Any religion that has a one prophet violates God's edicts.
I used to be Muslim. Prophet Mohammed and his mentors, mainly Maimonedes, searched the Torah to find out what promises God gave to Father Abraham and his seed. The Torah, a generational record of major and minor prophets-Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Samuel and others like Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Malachi etc--all gave correlating prophetic messages or documented events concerning God's people's battles with sin.
Even though the Torah bore witness to the birth of the Messianic age, both books compliment each other. In other words, the Torah bears witness to the New Testament and the New Testament confirms the Torah. Since Prophet Mohammed exhorts Muslims to study the Torah as the "Book" which God sent Jeshua to confirm, many of us, former Muslims did that and this is what we found out.
You cannot surprise God. God just does not get up and throw away all of His works, prophecies and purposes. He specifically says that His foundation is in Zion. For hundreds of years Muslims were forbidden to pray facing Jerusalem. On the site where the Dome of the Rock stands, there was a Christian church named St. Catherines. God says that any prophet that He sends will perform miracles to show that it was He, God who sent them. Prophet Mohammed never received any healing for anyone. In fact his first sons with someone else's wife died in infancy. He never healed blindness, leprosy, or any other diseases. No-one prophesied that he would come. At least 10 prophets prophesied--Jesus' birthplace, his time of arrival, the length of his ministry, how and why He would die and he fulfilled 300 plus prior prophecies. Why would God have Jesus confirm over 300 prophecies and then replace him with the seed of the maid--Hagar, especially when He said that His covenant heir was through Isaac? No one is allowed to change God's word or His plans. I am sure that prophet Mohammed is very angry that people are saying that God sent him to form a religion. He just wanted to show His people that God loved them and wanted them to find God? The Holy Koran is a wonderful book of prayers that he left his followers.

I've read the Koran, the bible and even the Hindhu holy scripts. And I find sadly that most ppl who comment on religion either don't know their own holy book, or the other's holy book. Those that seem to know two and then try to pick faults in the other are even worse. (South Africa comes to mind). Currently moslems are on the receiving end of the stick, because they happen to be on oil reserves.
Incidentally, if you watched Pacohontas (Walt Disney) you'd be surprised to find that it sort of argues that it is all right to attack native americans to get their gold. With this sort of indoctrination, i see many more wars in the future.

Actually, I have read the Koran. I don't watch CNN, Fox, Or MSNBC. I read Time, Newsweek, U.S News, Wall street Journal, and as many newspapers as I can. I do not believe I am an expert on Islam. I hope I can make well reasoned opinions on my own. Please do not make the same assumptions that you are accusing the rest of us of.
