NO!
ok first rule about haircolor that they teach in beauty school.... color doesn't lift color.
meaning that if you buy a lighter color it will NOT take out the darker color!
so
if you want to lighten your color without damaging your hair anymore, you can try a couple things,
use really cheap shampoo like prell, or suave, these have a really high ph level, a high ph level will open up the cuticle of your hair, and let some of the dark color out. the hotter the water the better. dish soap like dawn also works. you will have to do this several times and probably for a few days.
or
you can go to the beauty supply and buy a color remover kit!!~~~this WILL damage your hair more~~~
follow the directions on the package, then you will need to color over the results of that since it will be a really awful orangy color, be sure to pick a shade or 2 lighter than what you actually want, since store bought colors tend to be a shade or 3 darker than they show.
my advice if the washings dont work enough, is go to a pro.... she (or he) will be able to do the best job without as much damage as you might inflict on your hair. it may cost a bit of money, but if you value your hair it is worth it!
hope i was a help!

You have a problem.. See, the thing is.. color will not remove color.. meaning: if you try to put a lighter color over a darker color.. your result very well may be a darker color, if your lucky it will just stay the same as it is now.
You also have another problem.. getting hair color fixed in a salon is expensive.. especially with store bought color which usually contains metallic or plant dyes which are hard to remove.
Do not attempt to fix this problem yourself.. The only way to remove any of the color is with a lightener (bleach) and this is not something you should do on your own. They sell color removers in the store and they work.. but they will leave your hair a nice bright orange color and it will feel like straw. Then, you will have to color it again to fix the orange. The problem with this is that by this point your hair is slightly damaged so any color you put in will be sucked into your hair resulting in the darkness you already have, only this time your hair might not hold the color and you could end up back at the very lovely orange shade.
Try washing your hair with something that is "stripping". Wash it with suave, that good old cheap stuff, and it should strip out the color a little. Or you could try dish soap, or a clarifying shampoo. These may all lighten your color a little bit.
Go to a professional. If you cannot afford color correction, at least get a few high lights. Get them just a few shades lighter than your hair is now, get them very thin but get a lot of them, this will help it look lighter but still be blended into what you have.
This is precisely why us hairstylist laugh when people color their own hair.. but dont fret.. I havent always been a hairstylist.. I got yelled at at a job one time because I tried the color remover and ended up coming to work with very lovely orange hair.. not the best look in a bank!!

It's not a good idea to re-dye hair after only two weeks. Usually you should wait 4 months. Hair always lightens after you wash it. If you want the color to leave, wash it often. But you might be risking losing hair or making the color more different then you would want it.

NO! do not put anymore color on your hair, color does not remove color. In other words no color will lighten the dark color, you will have to have it stripped out of your hair with color remover. Before doing anything try to lighten it up some with the Prell or dish soap, make sure to conditioner afterward though.

Dark brown looks black usually indoors :p I have dark brown hair and it looks straight black whenever I'm not around the sun. As for the dying thing, I don't know but I think it might be too early o_o

If you wash your hair with dish detergent then a lot of the color will come out because the detergent strips the hair. But you can do it but becareful you could burn your scalp. Two weeks seems like a long enough time to do it. That is the lenghth of time you need between a perm and a color. Go for it.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. My hair was dk. brown. I just wanted the same color to cover the gray. It turned black. I kept going a shade lighter until I found the right shade.

counting on the priority of your hair, it may or won't be secure. Your suitable guess is going to a salon and having a specialist colour it. because of the fact your hair is already jet black, there is not any colour you ought to use which will make the hair any lighter, extremely back to brown. as a fashion to try this you'll might desire to lighten the hair first, after which placed the brown on. it extremely is often a very puzzling and long technique to to at residing house( i individually does not advise it) so your suitable guess is to stumble on somebody who makes a speciality of colour correction and have them do it. good success:)

um..sweetie...dark brown DOES look black. i had natural dark brown hair before i dyed it blonde. well you COULD dye it again to make it lighter but make sure not to dye it too many times because you can damage your hair and you will soon get split ends or your hair will become rough and it will look bad. two times is alright so go ahead and make it lighter ^_^

Yes since you are going darker it will be safe if you were to bleach it , it could get damaged just use a semi-permanent for now, especially if you dont dye it that often, also you may want to see a hairstylist they will be able to help you fix your problem.
