This started around 6 or 7weeks ago. I have NO swelling, full range of motion, no discoloration, no prior history of knee problems- ever. There was no "sudden injury" - exercise a lot and it started hurting after a long day of working out. The pain is mainly on the inner side and below of my right knee. I also feel a soreness over my kneecap, but I'm not sure if that's just secondary pain. I'm not taking anti-inflammatories because I'm afraid that they will interfere with the healing process. The pain isn't killing me, but it bothers me and I'm afraid that this isn't going to get better. I can walk without a limp, but honestly I do feel tenderness and a little pain when I do walk. I have icing the injury 2 times a day and am not sure if I should continue icing my knee since there has never been any visible swelling. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well my knee first started hurting 7 weeks ago -- just minor pain and only when i exercised. It wasn't until this past 2 weeks that it was really kicking in.

hmm...could be a buildup of fluid in the joint or under the kneecap...or even a torn or compressed meniscus (small piece of cartilage under the kneecap)...both of which would cause pain and minimal swelling. I would talk to your doctor about it - especially since it has been 7 weeks without change and you're continuing to use it (exercising)...you don't want to do more damage by ignoring it.

I have had one knee surgery on my left knee and reaggravated it last week by sliding out TWICE on my kitchen floor right onto my knee cap of the bad knee. Some of the symptons you are talking about sounds like my knee. I have to go in for an MRI soon because I may have torn the miniscus (the think that holds my kneecap in place) I say go have a dr look at it and if necessary have an mri done instead of self diagnosis. I can't believe I screwed up the SAME knew.. Only good news at this point is that I have this week off to give my knee a rest..

My husband has been having the exact same thing going on with him for about 4 months now! He has seen 2 doctors and had x-rays done, both doctors agree it is related to Artheritis. He was told to take OTC Motrin 600 to 800 Mg. every 6 hours when needed. It has helped him alot, he tried all the topical ointments with no luck. Hope this helps you.

You may have pulled a muscle. Sometimes, there is no obvious reason how you might have done it and still have everything you described. You may just have nerve that's unhappy. Scale back you workout routine for a few days and continue to ice it. If that doesn't help, talk to an orthopedist or podiatrist. Hope it gets better.
