Most labor for that work is paid hourly not by square foot. The pricing will range depending on experience, complexity of the project, do you know them and location.

Around me the price runs about 12.50/hr

Most of the projects I work on run between $15 and $25 per square foot depending on the size of the project. The bigger it is the cheaper the price per square foot. If you do not want to pay by the square foot then I would charge about $20 an hour in Tennessee. Good Luck with it.

Without knowing where you live, your budget, the materials you'd like to have used, or the size, it isn't an easy Q to answer.

No offense to the first answerer, but I charge at least double that amount in Central FL. I'd starve if I lived in your area number 1.

The process is the same anywhere. The unknowns I mentioned, in your case, are as much the driving factor as my own labor costs to you.

I'd charge you no less than $25 per hour and in some cases, depending on many conditions, I might charge you as high as $40 per hour. That said, I have no problem installing a deck in 2 working days usually, at a size perhaps as large as 16 x 20., working alone. The labor cost of course is on top of materials, site prep, cleanup after the fact, etc.
