I still need to be super productive and aggresive in my field. I need to find something that wont make me too loose and carefree. It,s almost like I can't afford to be less stressed out because I think it keeps me on top of things. But, I seriously feel like the anxiety is going to kill me!

I take Lorazepam (Generic for Ativan). It takes off the edge and allows me to continue what I am doing, or stops my mind from thinking to much so that I can sleep. I know for some people it can make you sleepy, but for me it just takes the edge off and lets me concentrate on what I am doing and stops me from thinking about the anxiety I am feeling...next thing I know I am off and running and the anxiety is gone.

There are a lot of books out there the help you learn how to breathe when you are feeling anxious. Truthfully they don't help me much...but I have severe anxiety, so I need the meds to help.

Good luck....I know anxiety is hard to deal with and get take over your life. If you need to, talk to your doctor and see what they say.

It all depends on if you are having panic attacks along with your anxiety because everyone has some kind of anxiety in their lives. If you have panic attacks that are due to your anxiety or it has came to the point that it is disrupting your daily activities, then I would recommend seeking professional help. There are many drugs out there that can help you with this, it is just about getting the right one from your doctor.

Well, psychiatrists are prescribing a lot of vistaril (which is basically benedryl) for my clients with anxiety. They also prescribe SSRI's like Paxil and Prozac. I have also seen Wellbutrin used as well with great success. The SSRI's are not likely to make you tired but could effect your sex drive. The Wellbutrin sometimes has the effect of helping with addictive behavior (overeating, etc.) and focusing ability as well as anxiety. Benzo's like Xanax will definitely zone you out, which seems not to be what you are looking for. You should speak with your doctor about your options.

Eating a diet that stresses protein (poultry and fish are best, unless you are a vegetarian and then soy is very good), low glycemic carbohydrates (look up a glycemic index) and good fat (olive oil for cooking, almonds or peanuts for snacking), may ease you during this anxious time. If you start now, it may take 2 weeks before you start feeling the benefits.

All meds have different effects on different people. You will have to try a few before you find the one that works for you. Are you anxious all the time or sometimes? Klonopin works but is very addictive. Lorazepam is also addictive but works. Talk to your doctor and see what is best for you.

if you're wise enough to know that you need to be aggressive in your "field", you are wise enough to go to your doctor so he can do lab work etc. to prescribe the proper medication for your system. anxiety is a funny little thing. it can make you up or down, even make you feel as if you are going to have a heart attack at times. don't trust any ones answer except your doctor.

certain, I do. i'm on Lexapro, and certain, it is been my saving grace. that is amazingly valuable. no longer only does it immediately result my rigidity factor (and by using extension my compulsions), notwithstanding it supplies me the braveness and desire to make the comittment to understanding even as i'm having rigidity and do some thing about it. As for uncomfortable area outcomes, I had undesirable subject matters and fatigue for roughly the first week. Painful, notwithstanding it went away, and it changed into so truly worth it. Then some months later I had insomnia, so I switched to taking it the day time and it cured that challenge.

In the case of our daughter, the Lexapro works better than Paxil.
