I'm not a guy but I've been where you are now -
My best friend was a guy and he was getting very close to falling in love with me ... He said the same things to me but I convinced him to try a relationship with me ...
I fell in love with someone else and although we still talk and he hangs out with my hubby ... he still hasn't forgiven me and hasn't gotten over the whole break up thing.
**Bottom line - Unless you are totally in love with this guy - Do not push it - let it go and be glad for such a great friend.
Be aware, also, that he just might not be attracted to you in that way and is trying to be nice about it.

I'm not a guy, but I'm engaged to a guy who was (and still is) my best friend for years. And yeah, it happened just like you say - slowly, over a long period of time.
We were both scared of losing our friendship, but it just got to the point where we had to do something because thoughts of getting together were absolutely consuming us.
If it doesn't work out for you as a couple, you can still be friends. It might take a little while to get over the awkwardness, but you'll get your friendship back, I promise! You'll probably be even closer than you are now.
Having said that, chances of things working out for you both are very high -- you know, love and respect one another already, so you're way ahead of other couples!
Give it a shot - don't let fear paralyse you. And good luck! :o)

I have fallen for a close friend who is a girl.
I wasn't worried about messing up our friendship. I thought it would make our friendship better.
I asked her out, but she was never interested in me in any other way than a friend.
We stayed friends after that and it wasn't a real big problem. She was real cool about it & didn't freak out or make a big deal out of it.
I got over it after a while.

All too many times. In my senior year of college, a very good friend of mine and I finally acted on our mutual attraction, but it bottomed out in about 3 weeks. The first few encounters were great, but it just spiraled downhill from there. But maybe you'll be better at it than we were?

Well,
I had a friend that I had, and I realized it, when I started to become more comfortable with myself around her than any other person. I also touch more ( by that I mean hugs, and friendly tackles, ya know?)
One is glad to be of service!

my best friend and our other best friends for many years started dating two years ago and they're still in love with each other.
if you have feelings for him then go for it chica.
if you do break up dont let that time come between you.

My gramma always tells me I should marry my best friend, because even after years and years of marriage, if the "spark" dies, we can still have fun, because we're best friends. Lol. I don't know about her logic.. but w/e.
