When you take out the brownies and you stick a toothpick in, there isn't supposed to be anything on the toothpick? is there??? Need help, so frustrated, I put the brownies in the oven at 10:00. They were supposed to cook in 35-38 minuetes, and it's been 53 minuetes and they are finally solid. (I mean at about 47 min., there was still the batter coming out on the toothpick!!)

It sounds like your oven temperature settings are not accurate.
From the length of time you mentioned, your oven probably needed to be set 25 degrees hotter than the recipe or instructions called for.
You can tell when brownies are done by looking at them.
They will be SHINY and cracked on top. ALSO, they just ever so slightly, pull away from the sides of the pan.
You don't want your brownies to be TOO dry, so when you stick a tooth pick in the center, EXPECT a few little moist crumbs to stick to the toothpick when you pull it out.
It takes about 10 minutes for them to cool.
If you cut them too soon, they will just fall apart. They are more moist while hot.
This is OK with ME! So what if they fall apart because they're warm? I don't care.
Next time, remember, that your oven is running LOW. It sounds like 25 degrees too cool.
SO, Everything you heat in the oven, remember to set it 25 degrees higher than what the instructions say.
Good Luck with your brownies.

Were they from a box mix? I always find that those are sticky, too, but are you sure you baked at the right temp and followed the recommendations for the baking pan and recommended time?
I think it's OK if the toothpick is a little sticky, but if it seems really liquidy, then leave it in there.
53 minutes is too long to have to bake brownies!

Its ok if there is something on the toothpick as long as it looks like spongy batter and not liquid batter. I had the same problem with a chocolate cake and it always ended up seeming too dry because I always overcooked it because I was too zealous with the "clean toothpick" rule

I like mine to have a little batter on the toothpick because then they are chewy. You can usually tell how much is too much. I agree - you baked them too long. They may be a little dry.

depends on the temp of oven [350] degrees/ might be the kind of brownies that when they cool they become solid/ if not try putting less water in your mix.

Sounds like the oven isn't on hot enough. Either that or you messed up the ingredients.

You may have made the batter too thin and its not holding together well.
