Mabe some; I would say even diet lemonade is better because of the chemicals.
Chemicals in soda aren't healthy in the long run much less the short run.

New information has been released showing that the chemicals they use in diet drinks (any and all diet drinks) to make it so there are no calories will actually prevent you from losing weight then if you were just drinking regular soda. When in doubt drink juice or water. It's better for you anyways.

Drinking a can of regular pop has the same calories as a small meal or a snack plus it is LOADED with sugar, which is obviously bad for you. If you replaced your regular pop with diet pop, it is calorie and sugar free, so it's almost like drinking nothing (or water..except water is 10x better for you than any kind of pop). So if you cut that amount of calories out of your diet by eliminating pop, then yes, you will eventually lose weight by reduction of calories, but you may just substitute the calories you took away with something else to fill that gap (which might end up being even more caloric) , in which case you would not lose weight. Weight loss is determined by calorie reduction, increasing essential nutrients, and excercise.

No - drink water. It is better for you especially when on a diet. I don't drink much soda at all and have maintained my weight at a steady 105 all my life. Eat smart, exercise and drink the things good for you: milk 3 x a day, 8 glasses of water and an occassional soda is more of a treat than part of your daily diet .

You may be more likely to lose weight, because you won't be consuming the extra calories and sugar that will cause you to gain weight. However, that's assuming your eating habits don't change. If you replace your regular sodas with diets but eat extra cookies, the purpose of drinking diet pop is totally defeated. Plus, it'll take more than drinking diet soda to lose weight. I know it sounds cliche, but the best way to drop the pounds is to change your diet overall and exercise.

Diet soda has less calories than regular soda. However, diet sodas usually contain either saccharin or aspartame, which can cause cancers from heavy consumption. The best thing you do is to eat and drink in moderation. If you need help with your diet plans, consult a nutritionist.
The paragraphs below are lifted from the FDA website:
In the late 1970s FDA and NCI conducted a population-based study of saccharin's role in causing bladder cancer in humans and found that "in general," people who used the sweetener had no greater risk of bladder cancer than the population at large. However, the study found "suggestive evidence" that heavy saccharin users--defined as those using six or more servings of the sweetener a day--may have an increased risk. Laumbach says that for consumers who use saccharin, the key to a lower risk may be moderation, as is the case with many foods that can cause problems when eaten in excess.
Other circulating reports claim that two amino acids in aspartame--phenylalanine and aspartic acid--can cause neurotoxic effects such as brain damage. "This is true in certain individuals and in high enough doses," says Hattan. He explains that a very small group of people who have the rare hereditary disease phenylketonuria have to watch their intake from other sources as well. Women with certain genetic traits (e.g., phenylketonurics) may metabolize the amino acid, phenylalanine, poorly and thus accumulate far higher than normal blood levels of phenylalanine. During pregnancy, high maternal levels of blood phenylalanine can be transferred to the fetus and produce serious adverse effects on brain development. While the protein eaten by these pregnant women contributes most of the resulting elevation of phenylalanine, they should also be aware of the presence of phenylalanine in beverages and foods that contain aspartame. FDA requires all products containing aspartame to be labeled for phenylalanine so consumers will be aware of the substance's presence and can avoid or restrict it.

Probably, because you'll be reducing calories. The best thing to drink is probably water, however. Diet sodas (and soda in general) have a lot of crap in them like chemicals and junk.
But yes, the less calories you ingest, the better your chances of losing weight. Add some exercise and you'll be golden!

The only thing it will help is calories. Soda still makes you bloat. It doesn't matter if it's diet soda or not. You'll lose more weight and feel better if you majorly cut down on the sodas.

no because diet soda has a lot of salt in it /and carborhydrates in it and high in sodium. diet and regular sodas/ diet has a sugar substitute/ when regular soda has regular sugar among other things. and if you want to really lose weight lay off of the pop all-together.

That's a popular misconception! The "diet" soda doesn't actually make you lose weight but you won't gain any either due to those drinks being sugar-free and low calorie.

Yes, because diet soda has no calories and regular soda is chock full of them because of the high sugar content. Water would be better...so would exercising.
