Many of you who thought that it's bloody pathetic when Muslim women wear hijab must be really blind. Church Nuns looks more suffocated in those thick robes and choking head-gears...
Who are we trying to kid? People who are bias against the hijab worn by Muslim women are just plain racist. We don't need to hear any more opinions like that. You're starting to make yourselves sound really dumb.

It's their choice. The reason 4 a hijab is to keep you from standing out as too pretty cuz it distracts u from religion. It's kinda like with Nuns. One way to do that would be 2 keep ur hair in a ponytail, but most Muslim girls I know actually like wearing a hijab. It is also useful in the winter. The reason the veil was picked for modesty in the Quran is because Muhammad lived in the desert, and the veil could not only keep you modest, it could sheild you from sand in a sandstorm.
hope this helped, and I think that women should pick wut they want 2 do.

Muslim women should wear the Hijab. The Hijab is not a sign of oppression for women. It also does not symbolize weakness. The Hijab represents our faith. It represents our strength. We don't conform to what society wants us to do. Imagine the number of stares Muslim women get and they still wear it. Muslim women are aware of the negative connotation surrounding the Hijab but they understand the meaning behind it and still wear it. It takes a strong women to do that. Also, the Hijab puts Muslim women on a pedastal. The Quran tells Men to lower their gaze. It allows Men to focus on our faith, our personality, and who we are rather than our beauty or lack thereof. It prevents us from sexual desires with people we do not know. It is like women are precius gems that should not be touched. I am a Muslim woman and I thank Allah that I am.

In schools, I think it should be allowed unless it takes away from the learning experience. If it's distracting to other students, it shouldn't be allowed. What if someone wanted to wear one of those KKK dresses? They could make the argument that it's for religious reasons. Freedom of religion can be hard to balance in schools. In other public places I think wearing a hijab is fine.

the 1st Amendment gave me the right to the freedom of religion. This means that I have the right to wear the hijab anytime I want to. No one has the right to take my Constitutional rights away.
Today I was shopping (with a hijab) most at the store were very nice to my children and I, but there was a woman that just kept staring at me. I am sure she did not know how to deal with me I hope that she saw a friendly peaceful Muslim.

I agree with Marc the Red...everyone in this country has a right to wear what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. I personally don't like people wearing "shirts" that expose their chest, but that's their right and I respect that. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong. Without these freedoms, America wouldn't be "the land of the free!"
So, I have no problem with it. I applaud them for sticking to what they believe in!!!

I understand the European reasoning behind it, but I think it's wrong. People should be permitted to express their religion freely so long as it isn't effecting anyone else. I don't see how hijab would cause harm to others.

I don't see a problem with that, because it is part of the religion for women to dress in a decent manner. For those of you who think that it's dumb or pathetic, you should probably know the religion first & the reasons for wearing it & then comment.

I think the dirty savages should be able to wear their hijabs in public. But only if by "hijabs" you mean "automotive tires filled with blazing diesel", and you append the word "lynchings" after "public".
Necklacing is a practice that is sorely needed here.

There's nothing wrong with wearing hijabs. I wouldn't want to wear one because I am Christian, but I respect the right to wear one; at least they are modest. Better than a mini-skirt anyday.
