The best gel I've ever used was Biolage by Matrix Gelee. It doesn't leave white residue (unless you keep putting gel into your hair for days and days without washing your hair), it doesn't have alcohol in it (alcohol is a BIG no-no for your skin and hair), and it actually keeps its strength for a long time. I could also wet my hair with plain water to "activate" it again if needed (for example, your girlfriend wrestles you to the ground and messes up your hair).

It has "various pure botanical extracts of Hibiscus and Mallow with additional ingredients for enhanced styling control that lasts all day" with "additional compounds" that "protects hair from damages due to effects of thermal styling." (Their words, not mine, although I agree with them!)

This gel also smells absolutely great! I had so many people asking me what gel I was using because they loved the smell of it.

Now, there's only one thing I DIDN'T like about this gel: the price! It's pretty expensive compared to the gels that go for $1 or $2.

However, as they say, you get what you pay for. If you don't mind shelling out money for a very good quality gel that actually works, buy this gel!!! I doubt you will be unsatisfied with it.

Not sure about your individual hair but don't get the cheap crap from the store. The good **** is expensive. What you need to do is ask the person who cuts your hair at the salon what might work for your hair and what you want your hair to do. They not only suggest stuff but will use that product in your hair right then and there to give you an idea of how it works. After you find what you like, the best place to get what you want for the least $$$ is at a beauty supply store. I recommend a wax or a stick for a strong hold. If your having problems with the white stuff then wax might not be it for you. I use KMH hairplay stick. It's like $12 bucks and depending on your hair (length-thickness) it lasts me like 4 months!

If you want gel that is a very firm hold use Ice Spiker Styling Glue.. its made by joico.. go to your nearest salon to get it.. it really is like glue.. it looks and smells like elmers.. and will hold like it too. It is water resistant. The only problem is getting it out.. when you buy it ask for a good clarifying shampoo.

I've heard good and bad about American Crew.. from personal experience with my clients, if you have thick hair and are trying to spike it, it sucks!!

Matrix Tough trix works good to, or Redken Concrete - which lives up to its name.. There is also a blue gel made by Sexy Hair Concepts.. I don't remember the name but they should have it in any regis salon.. Mastercuts, Supercuts, Regis, Regis Signature, Trade Secret, BoRics, Cost Cutters

Try using wax - it lasts all day and is easier for shaping. It's just really greesy. I use a gel wax mix called SURF HAIR or something like that by Garnier Fructis. I also use Studio FX Architect Wax by C'lairol Paris

I tried American Crew and Tea Tree but the best one that I use is something called Ice Styling Glue. It doesn't have the white residue (I know what you mean) and it's water resistant, so once I apply it - it's on.

A dab will do 'ya!

Spiker's Ice hair glue or spiker's Ice spray adhesive both stay put like cement and don't leave the hair white. It's about $12 but it lasts a long time.

look, we are all compelled to circulate to college suitable? human beings there understand who you're and what you're approximately! So do no longer gown how they want you to, gown what makes you soft, and in the event that they pick to purely choose you for what you're donning then screw them. human beings at my college (with a inhabitants of roughly 4000) cope with me like a number of different man or woman, and yet I placed on sweats and a t-shirt just about daily. They cope with me nicely because of the fact I act relax and that they are able to narrate to that. i will only walk around in my sweats all day. they are person-friendly to circulate around in and that they save me heat. yet once you do in comparison to sweats, then despite. Do what makes you happy. with the aid of the way, do no longer placed on the cranium t-shirts anymore. no longer attempting to be a d-bag or something yet that fad replace into over approximately 3 or 4 years in the past.

don't use gel.

use hair wax. you can even redo your hair design several times. it would even last even if showered your hair.
and it's look way cooler than gel.
