I do it all the time. No one has complained before. Sometimes they say sure, sometimes they laugh, sometimes they say no.

I am confused. What did I do wrong. (I am not a supervisor or anything just to be clear).

Ther trouble is that foot massages erotic or not have nothing to do with work. You have no business discussing such things at work. Sounds like you have too much time on your hands. Just because no one complains does not mean you have a right to do it. Most of the time women don't want to go through all the paperwork to "complain" about you.

If I were your supervisor, you would be separated from everyone because you obviously don't take other perspectives into consideration before making suggestions. I would also keep you too busy to think about making personal comments to anyone.

Here's a clue: If you would not say the comment directly to your mother, grandmother, and sister, then it is inappropriate for the work environment. If you would say that to your mother, grandmother or sister, then you are one of those that will end up fighting the sexual harrasment thing all your life because the women in your life did not teach you where the line is.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily wrong but it can be inappropriate. You need to make sure you know the person well enough before you ask that question because some women get very uncomfortable with those type questions due to the number of creepy men out there these days. Personally, I wouldn't be humored by it and wouldn't get angry about it, but if you did it all the time I would get quite annoyed.

I guess this could be considered sexual harrasment "technically".
I think it sounds pretty darn good and only an uptight nerd would get someone in trouble for that. I don't know what and erotic foot massage is, other than it sounds sexual but anytime someone rubbing the feet....me likey.

Derwood,

Never, absolutely never, bring up anything sexual at the office. Treat all the woman as though they were nuns. Treat all the men as if they were auditors.

Be polite and correct, but never mention anything sensual or sexual. Never tell a joke. Never offer massage services. Never offer political opinions.

You offended the civil religion of the GLASS BOX. Shame on you. No-Nos like this can turn your working career into road kill.

In case you are not aware that is considered sexual harrassment by the Federal Goverment under Title Vii of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

I'm sure someone was offended - it seems people get offended at the littlest things these days.

Better keep the foot massages to after work from now on.

It was inappropriate to ask women at work that question, it's on the border line of sexual harassment and you can get in a lot of trouble for that. It's always best to stay professional.

Just a word of advice, if you don't want to find yourself on the wrong end of a sexual harrasement law suit, supervisor or not, you should just quit talking to women period.

I'd laugh and say yes if I wanted and no if I didn't feel like it . I don't think you did anything wrong sometimes people are just too conservative in the workplace.
