Depends on your definition of the world. The world according to the humans, planet Earth, the religious world or the Holy Land. What world?
The animals on the earth including the humans have an enormous capability of adaptation. I really believe seriously that a new war, probably a local one, can't be sufficient to eliminate the future of humans. Remember than in the past we survived calamities much greater than this one, for example the two world wars of the 20 century, the Europeans plagues of the 13 century( that kills 1/3 of the population), the nomadic Mongols empire that raze central Asia and east Europe, the slavery or the Lenin massive relocation (millions die to).
Not I don't think we are living the end of the "world" and if this is the case another specie will take over the planet, like the dolphins.

Matthew24:1 Departing now, Jesus was on his way from the temple, but his disciples approached to show him the buildings of the temple. 2Â In response he said to them: “Do YOU not behold all these things? Truly I say to YOU, By no means will a stone be left here upon a stone and not be thrown down.”
3Â While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”
4Â And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5Â for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6Â YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
7Â “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8Â All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.
9Â “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10Â Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11Â And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12Â and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13Â But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14Â And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
This is what is happening right now, but peace will be restored shortly notice what psalms 37:10-11 and 29 say.

the future...
poof. gone.
mankind has not made a weapon that it ddin't use in war.
Doesn;t that feel comforting knowing the amount of nuclear weapons everyone has? Enough to blow up the earth 30X over.
I bet everyone will get the chance to use them...but I won't be around to collect, either.
