The war is a phony war against terrorism. It still has not been proven what really happened on 9-11. Iraq (especially under Saddam Hussein) was a secular state, and was enemies with Al-Qeida. There were no WMD ever found, except for some old ones that were given to SH in the 1980's by the US. Several 5-star generals (retired) advised this administration NOT to invade Iraq without having an "exit strategy". The American people were lied to -- we were told it was going to be a "cake-walk". Now there is civil war, and our troops are getting caught in the crossfire. (By the way, I'm the daughter of a Marine officer -- a veteran -- and believe in having a strong military).

Terrorism is another type of warfare, and is orchestrated through governments. Any serious war on terror, would target the narcotics trade, since that is the biggest source of cash in the world--cash which is used to finance the terrorism.

Ask yourself -- what is Afganistan's biggest crop? why is the US not targetting the opium poppy fields???

The US, is, in fact, in greater danger now, because Iraq, and perhaps soon Lebanon, is becoming an area of recruitment for increasing numbers of the real thing, in terms of terrorists.

I think your question deals with two separate issues: 1. the war on terrorism and 2. the current war in Iraq.

Why do I think they are separate?

The "war on terrorism" was meant to stop terrorism against the US, especially on our own soil. It was also meant to be a means to prevent terrorist activities worldwide. Has it ended terrorism? No, it hasn't. Has it made us less vulnerable to terrorist attacks? Not really. Has it invaded the privacy of innocent Americans? Most likely. Has it changed the future of civil rights in our nation? Definitely.

The current war in Iraq stopped a "terrorist" from terrorizing his own citizens; however, it did little to prevent terrorism worldwide or to make lives better for the innocent civilians in Iraq.

Do I support our troops in Iraq---YES, I DO! They are doing their jobs, as they are asked to do, to the best of their ability.

Do I support our government's decision to enter Iraq? Not exactly. I think the Iraq issue was one that should have been considered more carefully prior to invading and destabilizing the country. Iraq was no paradise before, but I have to wonder if it will be worse when the US pulls out?

Yes, if you take our reasons for going there we have had at least three and it is changing all the time then it is a fake war started by George Bush for personal gain. The instability that he has caused in the middle east is just providing fuel to the fire. 6000 Iraqi people died in May and June that is a shame. No the US is no safer because we are in Iraq. With Iran, North Korea, and not the Israelis attacking Lebanon it is not making us or the world any safer.

each warfare is fought for some targets set in the previous hand. The warfare in Iraq became into additionally started with 2 targets and those have been (a million) removal of weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) and (2) removal of Saddam government via fact of its help for terrorists. the 1st purpose ought to no longer be finished via fact there have been NO WMDs what so ever and 2d purpose became into no longer super adequate to certainly salary a warfare. US ought to get rid of Saddam with different capacity like a coup, inner circulate via Iraqis etc (as US has performed it in different worldwide places in the previous), so that's secure to declare that the actually purpose became into to have actual administration over the oil wells and that has been finished. warfare against Terror is a commercial slogan thats why neither UN nor majority of the international locations participated/ supported the warfare. the only worldwide places that actively participated have been people who had direct subject with the oil. The harmless civilians and US squaddies being killed in Iraq is infact an act of terrorism and would stop. In all the fairness all the distant places forces could be despatched back from iraq and Iraqis could be enable unfastened to return to a determination upon formation of their government and how they choose to stay. No u . s . has any precise to intrude in yet another u . s .'s inner affairs as all the international locations in the worldwide are equivalent and function the suggestions-blowing to stay freely and independently.

The war in Iraq is a real war on terrorism - by establishing a moderate Arab democracy in the Middle East, we are throwing the gauntlet down to the terrorists - challenging them in their own backyard. Al Qaeda (and Iran and Syria) have picked it up and are actively fighting back, in Iraq. Better there than in the US. They haven't given up on attacking the US, but they MUST be seen as successful in Iraq or they will not convince the other Muslims that God is on their side.
