The people whom you describe often feel powerless to contribute to the solutions of the many difficult problems and situations happening around them. They are in many ways insecure and like the proverbial ostrich, they'bury their heads in the sand'-i.e. they are not even interested in events around them. There is a mental block. Still others arrive at 'solutions' which turn out to be wrong bec. the matter was not properly thought out rather their answers werebased on emotion or on a false premise.

The problems in the world are very complex and not meant to be understood by everyone. If you do understand or at least think you do I commend you. You just have to understand that sometimes people get frustrated when they cant figure something out. If you remember "the matrix", how some of the characters found the truth and didnt like what they saw. When it comes right down to it some people probably dont even really want to know what goes on.

I can only speak for myself and tell what I have heard others say.
We understand what is going on around us. We understand a heck of a lot more than some people think we do.
We care what goes on around us. We care about our families, friends, and neighbors.
We want to work so our families can have a comfortable and safe place to live, food on the table, medical care, education for children as well as adults. We want job security. We want to improve our skills and learn new ones. We want to be treated with respect.
We do care about what goes on around us. We volunteer our time and donate money, clothing, and household items to those in need. We do it with a smile and a silent prayer, knowing that at some future time, we may be the ones in need.
I've noticed that sometimes when people make disheartening comments like the one you mentioned above, it's not because they don't understand or care. It can come from feelings of hopelessness or believing that there's nothing the person can do to change anything. It may derive from circumstances in that person's life, as well as national or international events.

It's easier that way
People usually have too many problems of their own to worry about things around them
And people often say things without meaning them as a joke
Like "i want to *ill everyone here" or something, but usually they are joking or pissed or both.Don't take that seriously

There is a saying, "ignorance is bliss." People see so much fake death on television and in movies, they do not understand that people suffer and lose loved ones in these situations. What has made us so apathetic; it is hard to say.

Unfortunately they are busy with their own matters. They just see their own little neighborhood, their friends and families. And they accept whatever they hear on TV without a little thinking.
