Gas in the stomach needs a way out. Personally, I would prefer that they belch than the alternative...I mean, it could come out the other end!!! Ewwww!!!

I agree with Oblivia and would like to add...if you suppress a belch, it could cause health problems...same with the other end. If you need to belch in public, politely excuse yourself and leave the room, if possible. Animals and humans both belch...it's a digestive thingy.
