May Allah bless your soul?" Would you feel my sincerity if I said, "May science improve your life."? Would you feel either of those as an appropriate greeting or goodbye?

I am an Atheist. And I don't have a problem when my mother or friends say Bless you to me. But when reversed, I find their tolerance to be.. well, just a little lacking.

WOW! Look at all the hypocrites. God bless you is totally normal but some go off the deep end if you offer up Allah. I'm a hardcore Atheist and Allah can bless me (or at least someone who believes in him can wish blessings on me) and I would feel like they cared about me.

Hey, you asked 3 different questions there, so here's the answer to all 3:

1) No, I would not feel "blessed". As a Christian, how could I feel blessed if you invoked a god that I didn't believe in? And since Christians do not believe in a "many paths to truth" approach, I could not accept that as a "blessing".

2) I might feel your sincerity if you said something like "May science improve your life", but that doesn't mean it would mean anything to me personally. Sincerity doesn't make something true, sincerity is about emotions, truth is objective.

3) If you're asking me as a Christian, would either of these be appropriate, my answer is no. If you're asking in general, I'd say the first one would be considered in the bounds of good manners, and the second one would be just weird.

I believe in God, and I 'believe in' science. But I feel absolutely nothing when some one says anything to the affect of 'May God bless you'. If God wants to "bless me" he will. Same for Allah. And it would be kind of the same way if some one said 'May science improve your life'. Maybe it will, maybe it wont. Some one saying it has nothing to do with it actually happening. If the person is being sincere I appreciate the thought, but it really means nothing to me.

I would feel blessed if a Muslim asked Allah to belss me, even though I am not Muslim. I believe Allah would bless me at the request of a faithful follower.

I would not feel blessed for asking science to improve my life. That is something that cannot be "invoked" by verbally requesting it.

the first is an apppriate greeting or farewell, the second is not.

Personally, I would. I'm think it is a blessing to have someone else think about you and want the best for you...

May science improve your life? I don't know, that could be said very sarcastically... To me God is more important in my life than Science... even though I use evidence of science every day - God takes precedence

May science improve your life is awkward, because science isn't a religion... May Allah bless your soul would make me feel blessed though.

No, not a true and wise Christian. Because Allah is a false prophet. Scientology that you refer to in your "May science improve your life" statement or some false religion will not bless anyone but condemn you to hell.

Are you the false prophet or just a common devil worshiper?

Science has improved my life, I got this wonderful microwave bacon and omlet cooker this week, it is wonderful.

My cell phone has helped so much, as has plastic. no one can deny science has helped mankind ( but also cursed it with pollution, chemical wastes, and made man lazier than he used to be and more dependent on "things"

I you beleived in Allah, and firmly believed, and blessed me, i would feel you wished me the best you could in your beleif.
I may not belive in your god and not beleive that I was being blessed by a gad, but I would feel blessed that you though so highly of me.

ALLAH DOESN'T MEAN A THING TO ME AS A CHRISTAIN, THAT'S A MUSLIM THING, AND SCIENCE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY BELIEVES IN GOD AS A CHRISTIAN EITHER SO THE ANSWER TO THAT IS NO. WHY WOULD I WANT BLESSING FROM A MAN U IS DEAD UNDER THE GRAVE. HE CANT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THAT'S LIKE SOMEONE I KNOW. ( U DONT KNOW AT ALL) THAT IS DEAD AND I SAY, MAY KATHY BLESS YOUR SOUL, YOU'LL BE LIKE WHO IN THE WORLD IS KATHY???? U GET MY DRIFT. SHE DIDN'T EVEN CREATE A THING.
