You all seem very nice so far. I met a woman who couldn't walk 3 steps to the other side of the car to put her cart away into the corrall. She was very awful to me when I walked to her cart and moved it to the corrall. She swore at me with the f*word with her kids in the car, and said she had 3 kids in the car, i didnt' understand, and didn't need my crap. I just was trying to help put her cart away so it didn't hit someone else's car. So, I was wondering how many people like that are out there. I always put away the cart. I wouldn't want that hitting my car either.

My answer: b
I always take mine back to the nearest cart corral.
For a variety of reasons...
1) it's what the cart corral is there for.
2) it's basic courtesy
3) leaving them in the open parking spot prohibits others
from parking there (unless they got out of their car and moved it)
4) other cars might run into them or a rogue cart could hit a car
and cause some damage to that car.
5) Consideration. If I were a store employee whose job it was is
to bring the carts back into the store, I would be appreciative if
they were all in one place rather than scattered all around the
parking lot.

B 90% of the time. there are a few days I am not feeling well and then I admit, I do leave the cart there. But NEVER, NEVER on a windy day.
And if I leave the cart, I try and make it so it's impossible to run into other cars. Yikes! The F-word. I've gotten that a few times...
I think the worst people are the people who park right NEXT to the corral and don't put their cart in.
Edit: B, because I dont' mind walking the few extra stpes

Lately B) but I always used to just leave it there because everybody else does. Now i put it back unless I had to park really far from the cart corrall.

Well, it depends on my mood, and if I have my kids with me. If I'm really stressed and my little ones are upset I will leave the cart not necessarily in the parking area but on a line (kind of out of the way). But I usually try to put them where they belong. Just a common courtesy.

I put them in the cart coral...
I don't want someones lack of putting a cart away putting dents in my car, and I wouldn't risk that happening to someone else's car either.

I usually put a few other carts away as well, and I don't even own a car.
I do it because I don't want other peoples cars to get hit and doing stuff like that can occasionally help relieve stress from people who are having a bad day.

b ,my grandmother who raised me taught me to put everything back where they belong, and not necessarily where I got them from . When I return carts from a parking lot I somehow feel as if I'm protecting other peoples cars from dents scratches etc. also not blocking parking spaces ,which are so hard to find

Park near cart return instead of near front door that makes it easier to do right thing. But if I can't I make kids take it back to where they belong. Hate it when people can't be at least that courteous

b, it's easier to FIND a cart when you need one!
besides trying to find a parking space is twice as hard if you have to maneuver around shopping carts!
