To prevent chewing you can get this spray from a Pet Supply store called "Bitter Apple" it is not toxic but is very bitter and yucky tasting to the dog. It will not harm your furniture and you can spray it on anything that your dog is chewing on.
Hope this helps,, also get her some chew bones,, it will keep her occupied

I can empathize. A long time ago I got a Bassett because I loved the hush puppy! I knew nothing about them and I didn't have that much dog knowledge in general. It was a nightmare!!! I had dogs previously, as a child, but nothing like this one! Chewed everything and never could be housebroken. This went on for 18 months. I was a mess and so was my house. He destroyed 2 sofas.

Finally, not knowing what else to do, I found a dog trainer and talked it over with him. He said that Bassetts are the hardest breed to train. He also said that the easiest thing to do was to give the dog to someone that hunted with pack dogs. I ran an ad and did just that. I kept checking up on him for awhile and he did fabulously for the hunter and always seemed happier.

I know this isn't training advice and I am not sure I would do this same thing now - but it was where he needed to be. I also will never own a bassett even though I still like them. If you have trained 2 of 3, I would say you are doing good!

It sounds like the new dog never had good training as a pup like your dogs did! I would go back to square one and treat her as if she was a new pup. Teach her what is acceptable to chew on by being aware of what she is doing at all times. If you can't be there, crate her with safe toys to keep her out of trouble. Remember, every time she makes a mistake and no one is there to show her what to do right, the bad behavior is being reinforced. She is confused and doesn't understand the rules of your house yet! Be patient please! good luck. :)

She sounds kind of like my new male basset puppy. The only thing I can suggest is that any time she misbehaves, say NO! and put her in solitary for a while, but only if you catch her doing it, otherwise, she wont know what she is being punished for...
