The first time I saw him was on Larry King. Joel Osteen was asked if Muslims or Jews could go to heaven.

KING: What if you're Jewish or Muslim, you don't accept Christ at all?

OSTEEN: You know, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know...

I immediately turned off the TV. If he's leading a flock of sixteen thousand members, and he doesn't know the Gospel, then he needs to step down.

I knew him in high school. He's exactly what he appears to be.

But I have to agree with another poster. I can't take that much happiness all the time lol. I need more indepth theological teaching that Joel can provide. That's why I go to Second Baptist Church in Houston, and just love Dr. Ed Young. He teaches straight from the Bible.

At first glance, he seems like his message is very positive. But he preaches a health and wealth kind of gospel and leaves out something very important, why God allows suffering. This can lead someone to the false belief that if they are suffering then they aren't pleasing God. Or they might start to lose their faith in God because they don't understand why they are suffering. Although Jesus performed many miracles of healing, Jesus never promised health and wealth. Jesus said that if we are to be worthy to be His disciples we must be willing to take up our cross and follow Him. The Catholic Church has the best answer for this question of why God allows suffering. If we forget why we suffer, all we have to do is look at a crucifix and we are reminded. May God bless you.

He certainly is uplifting and positive, but I feel something is missing in his sermons. Hubby thinks he neglects to mention Jesus enough. I just think Osteen doesn't really preach the whole Bible. Life, Christianity and almost anything else won't always be fun and happy-happy.

A very good evangelist.

Milk for the babes in Christ.

Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
