Wisdom,
There are two forms of what we call guilt. The first, is what I call natural guilt. It is a safeguard built into our minds, to let us know when we have crossed the line, and violated the life of another person or being. It is there to preserve our species. The second form, is unnatural, and can be quite destructive. It gets programmed into us by society, our parents, teachers, peers, religious leaders, and so-called friends. It occurs when we do not live up to the expectations of others, and it is a load of horse manure. It is largely self-imposed. If you ever want to find happiness, you must learn to discriminate between the two. When you experience true natural guilt, you have done someone wrong, and you should do whatever you can to make reparations. When you experience false, man-made guilt, you have to draw a line in the sand, so to speak. You must learn to discern the artificial judgments that people impose on each other. If you do not learn to ignore, and conquer the false guilt that is so abundant in this culture, you will be miserable, for no reason whatsoever.

They originate in the brain and are the result of doing something you have been told (or shown) most of your life was the wrong thing to do.

Same place as all other emotions.

"God" must live in the frontal lobe given the fact removing the frontal lobe causes loss of all emotions, including "love" and "guilt."
