I don’t' think we have sold them any yet. America is the biggest supplier of munitions to Israel; they get almost top of the line stuff; besides, Israel doesn't need them. They are trying to hit terrorist targets, not level a city block. As long as Israel can claim (and prove) that they are not targeting civilians the world isn't going to do much to stop them. If they let the war get wide spread enough that they are taking out city blocks then the world will have to get involved, and Israel will be the bad guys.
When Y. Arafat was in Palestine the Israelis knew exactly where he was. They locked him into this compound, but they did not directly bomb him. That would be counterproductive. They don’t want to carpet bomb, or conduct mass bombings on anyone; they only want to hit the terrorists.
What Israel wants to use, and probably is using, are USA made GPS guided or laser guided bombs and missiles. The ones that can go through an air grate with a second missile coming in just behind it. However, all the precision in the world won’t do you any good if you don’t know where the terrorist is, or if he is right next to a school or mosque, or if he fires a few rockets and then runs away. What Israel would really, really want would be a few F-17 Nighthawks. They can loiter over Lebanon, undetected and drop their bombs (only 2 can be carried) right on the missile launcher just as it fires. That way they can get the terrorists, the launcher, and the missile. Stealth technology is the major card in the US military deck, so the US government will not sell them to Israel. Israel does have F-15s and F16s, but the F-16 is a day fighter. The F-15 can be used day or night and easily refueled in the air, but it is not stealthy. While the terrorists probably don’t have radar-tracking gear, they can hear any plane that gets low enough to observe a launch.
