Because school is preparing you for the real world. The government doesn't say, only straight people can go in this bathroom. It is like the whole white/black issue but with straight/gay and female/male

Some schools do... I personally like the segregation of students by gender because it takes away a lot of the "hormonal" problems we encounter in schools. Instead of concentrating on the opposite gender during the school day, they are or can be more focused on school. This appears to be possible, although not necessarily provened, considering the disparity in achievement levels between these schools and integrated schools

How do you propose to do this? I take it this is to prevent the "distraction" of being in class with a romantic interest. You include sexual identity, but just how do you separate that? All the straight boys can go in one room and all the straight girls in another room, so that's solved. But a lesbian could only be put in a room with a gay boy, and no other girls, and the gay boy could only be put in a room with a lesbian, and no other guys. So you end up with a bunch of pairs who are segregated from all the rest, and if you have more lesbians than gays, they just have to be all alone. Now I'm sure the homosexual community would already be up in arms over this, and rightfully so, but let's disregard complaints of equality for the moment. The actual percentage of homosexuals in the population is very low, and for the sake of argument let's assume we wouldn't have a bunch of pairs of segregated homosexuals, but only one pair. You've already taken one class, that used to be taught by one teacher, and separated them into three classes that require three teachers at any given time. You've tripled the number of teachers required, and thus the teacher salary costs faced by school, and you've done this in a time when schools already are struggling to stay afloat financially and when there's already a huge shortage of good teachers. Where are all these extra teachers going to come from, and who is going to pay for them? Even disregarding the issues of equality, this falls apart for purely economic reasons.

One reason for gender is that it has been shown here in New Zealand that grades improve rapidly when segregation of gender occurs at high school. I don't know why?

As for sexuality I don't think this sould benefit a society at all. This is because in order to build a robust, understanding, cohesive society kids must be exposed to people different to themselves in order to be wellrounded. After all ignorance breeds ignorance

If you devise and maintain such a separation, you put a focus on the grouping. We should be able to look at each other as fellow human beings instead of as "labels."

Of course, this type of segregation already occurs in the locker room, but that's understandable.
