I got my dress at Dvid's Bridal in New Brunswick, NJ in 1996 and I found them very nice & helpful. And as some others mentioned, you MUST have an appointment.

My cousin & I were both getting married in 1996. Me in September and her in October. I bought my dress is April, she got hers in May.

About a week after she bought hers she was at my house and asked to see my dress. I got it out of the closet, unzipped the bag and we discovered we had the EXACT SAME DRESS!

The next day we both went to the store and they were very nice and had a good laugh over the whole thing. Then they helped us make our dresses a bit different. They added a bow to hers in the back and made my train longer. They were really great about it.

I got married in June of this year and had an overall good experience with David's. My advice is that as previously mentioned you must have an appointment but if you can avoid it then make an appointment for any day other than Saturday- they are extremely busy. My only other reccomendation is that if you can do it get your alterations done somewhere else, I ended up paying over $200 for alterations on my $400 dress, granted I'm short but all I had done was have it taken up and in a little bit. The dresses we got there were beautiful and the service was really good all the times I've gone in, overall it's a good experience if you go in knowing what you want and not willing to take an crap from anyone. Good luck!

I often heard horror stories about David's Bridal but my experience wasn't that bad. I went to 2 different David's Bridal shops; one in Raleigh, North Carolina and the other in Richmond Virginia. The sale associates in Raleigh was not helpful at all. They passed me and didn't ask if I needed help. So I decided not to go to that David's anymore. I went to the Richmond store and the associates were very helpful and attentive. I ended up purchasing my gown from David's in Richmond, Va.

I've heard both good and bad stories about David's. The one in Tacoma, WA is good. My sister didn't have any problems with them other than a small mix up on sizes for my BM outfit, but they straightened it out. We went in without an appointment to try on BM dresses without a problem. Compaired to one independent shop I went in when I was getting married, David's was 100 times better.

The thing to remember about David's is that it's a franchise store. Some will be better than others, depending on who's running the store. It's similar to McDonald's-some are better than others.

I don't really have a good story about David's Bridal. They ordered the wrong bridemaid's dresses 2 times, sent them back, lost one, lost the order information, refused to steam my wedding dress... but I think thats about it. I finally got all of my dresses over 4 months later. I won't ever use them again if possible.

I went without an appointment and they treated me really well, an associate who wasn't busy helped me I tried on 3 different gowns the 2nd was incredible, then I returned the other day with my mom and future sister in law, tried it on again and bought it. It was a great price. When I was trying it on for the second time I got so stressed by my mom that I started to cry, and the associate was just perfectly sweet and knew exactly how to handle the situation. I highly recommend the store.

Check out Dreams by Renee http://www.dreamsbyreneebridal.com They have some absolutely gorgeous dresses PLUS they can make custom dresses based on drawings and/or pictures at reasonable prices. Just to let you know, the prices listed on their site is suggested retail and since I am an authorized rep, I can offer discounts on all of their dresses. They are extremely rude and if you don't have an appointment they won't even let you in the door. I bought my dress there and loved it but when I wanted to go back and just LOOK at bridesmaid dresses they stopped me at the door to ask if I had an appoinment. Same thing happened when I had to go back and pick up my bustier that was ordered. They have beautiful dresses but the people that work there are aweful!!!

I've only been inside a DB once a l-o-n-g time ago just to look at their $99 gowns. A good friend of mine bought hers about 5 years ago during one of those sales and it was pretty--it looked fabulous on her, but not my style. All the gowns I saw were hideous! I like the fact that they now carry Oleg Cassini, but I will never buy my wedding dress at DB--too commercial.
