Do fun things together. That way you're not taking quality time away from the son.10 years old is a hard age, already they think they know everything. Find out what he likes to do and go out together(All three of you). When he starts to accept you go out with just his mom (maybe every other time)

Get to know her son.If you really like her you have to love the kid as well. He feel left out because you are always with her and maybe he wants some attention. Talk to him, give him good comments in what he does. take interest in him and whats around him. Maybe take them both out, like a family. You cant just think you can have his mother to yourself can you. A kid will do anything to make a man like that out. Because the kid is her life and you just entered. And if you have everything in common then you must find something in common with the kid. If you don't accept the kid then you will never have a perfect relationship. That's the truth.

If this woman means that much to you, you have to try and ignore it. This is going to be hard. But, after you start to get to know that boy and his mother better he will warm up to you. You said he gives her a hard time about dating new men, well try to become what she obviously can't hold onto, the same man. If you have been there you are not new and then he has no reason to give her a hard time.

If she has a kid, it's a two package deal. Your goal, catch them both, serenade the girl, and be a father figure for the kid since she's a widow. He probably wants a father, but also wants what's best for her mom. If you can make the child understand how much you love her, and HIM too, then you probably have a chance.

Her kid is having a hard time because of the loss of his father. I can understand that, but she cannot let that child dominate her life like that, she needs to stand her grounds so that she can live the life she needs and deserves to live. It sounds to me like she needs to start talking to her son or even taking him to counseling.
Maybe you can recommend that to her and do what you can to get her son to warm up to you.

Good luck! :)

well, if she is a widow, then i can understand where the son is ciming from. apparently b/c his father died, he doesnt want anyone to take his place. dont rush into it, take it slow, adn slowly earn the boys trust. ruching into the relationship will cause more pain than pleasure

you need to exert effort to get his trust and its not that easy and takes time..maybe he's not ready to have a new father figure, his thinking that you are taking his mother away from him he will be given less attention or abandonment kind of feeling..he maybe thinking too that there is no father except for his biological father..try to understand him and be patient..be friendly to him not just because you want to get his attention but bcoz your a one trusted friend...bring him in your date if possible though at times you need to be on your own...good luck!

ok listen, best solution is that you possibly take the boy out to one of his favorite places, show the boy a good time. sooner orlater the boy will trust you to be with his mother, and who knows he may even in the end call you dad. trust me on this on buddy.
