I have not recently had this dream, but was curious what it may mean. Throughout most of my life I have had a recurring dream that I am crossing a bridge, or not crossing as it turns out. I get half way across, only to be too afraid to go any further. The twist comes in the type of bridge. Every time I have the dream, the bridge is different. Sometimes big metal and stable, other times its rope, or incomplete. Any ideas?

Oddly enough this is a simple interpretation. The bridge represents a decision you are trying to take in your life. The harder the bridge the harder the decision.

Bridges represent a transitional phase in your life and as I said before the material the bridge is made of determines how critical the decision is.

Does the dream end with you standing at the mid-point, or do you double-back to the point of origin? And most importantly, are you ever able to see the other side?

The sub-conscious mind works in interesting ways, although generally not a cryptically as we might imagine. If the dream ends with you at the mid-point, it may indicate that you need to pause to assess the circumstances that lie ahead; a cautionary warning. However, you're decision to move forward, or a commitment to proceed has not yet been made.

If you double-back then right or wrong, you've probably already subconsciously made your decision.

The variances in the type of bridge likely represent different circumstances in your life, different phases of your life, or different environments relating to a decision or change you're contemplating. A sturdy bridge represents your subconscious view that the change you are contemplating is a good change. You believe it to be safe, or a positive change. The rickety bridge represents your subconscious view that the change you're contemplating is risky, and may not support you. An incomplete bridge represents your subconscious view that you require more information or time to make the change.

The only one who can accurately answer your question is you. You know if you have a resistance to making decisions, or embracing new experiences. Think back to those times when you have had the dream, and remind yourself of the specifics relating to those times. When the bridge was metal and stable, were you contemplating a move to a city, a job change, or did a new love interest come into your life who you may have perceived as grounded and stable?

When you have the dream may also be very telling. Generally, the dreams that we remember occur shortly before we awaken, and may relate to those circumstances that you subconsciously know you will be dealing with soon, like your work environment. Do you have the dream during the week, or the weekend?

I have always applied merit to the theory that our dreams are a tool of assistance. Dreams are our way or 'sorting out' lifes little curve balls, and working through the details as we make our decisions.

Wow, this is a very straightforward symbol. The bridge is very literal, in that the road that goes over it that you are currently walking upon is the path in which your life leads you. Thus, the bridge that you come upon represents a change in yuor life, some sort of obstacle that you need to hurdle. The fact that you are too afraid to fully cross represents the fact that you are not yet ready to surpass what hinders you. Asses your life. Is there some sort of obstacle that you confront daily? Are you at the age of which you are starting to declare your independance from your family? If so, then this is your bridge.

Let me analyze this dream for you.

Bridge = support
metal , stable, rope , incomplete = obstacle, difficulties in life

Your dream literally means that you need support and somehow you don't get it. In life, you have lots of difficulties and You are trying to ask for help and somehow you are not getting the one that you need.

You are also afraid to confront difficulties yourself, that is why you need different support or bridge. However, you don't have enough TRUST with them. Therefore, you couldn't cross the bridge.

I learned that you already KNOW the meaning of your own dreams. If I dreamed that dream, I would interpret it as meaning that I was in a transition and was afraid to complete the change.

I don't think the type of bridge would mean as much as you are crossing from one thing to another and have some fear about it, which is natural.

Perhaps it means that in any type of situation (different bridges) .. you don't complete your goals of what you set out to do (not being able to cross) ... maybe you give up halfway through? I don't know because I don't know you or your life story, but that seems to be a valid point. But keep in mind it could be nothing also, dreams aren't fully understood yet, and they don't always have to have meanings. Like with me, I always had a recurring dream that when i was little my closet had a secret doorway in it, and everytime I went through it, it was always something unworldly, but always something different too. Who knows, but hope I helped you anyways.

Hmmm.... pretty mild dream, actually. It is my opinion that trying to interpret dreams is folly. Simply because dreaming is your subconscious at play. There is no conscious control or organization to it. It is simply a jumbled up collage of nonsense, usually. To try to interpret them would be frustrating at best... at least in my case. In your case, perhaps you're frustrated at not being able to attain some kind of goal, but, so what? What good would knowing if the dream meant anything, which I doubt it does. How about the running really slow dream... does that mean anything? I doubt it... it's probably the fact that you're asleep and your legs can barely move. Just my view.... 'nuff said?

i strongly believe that these dreams must have come when u might have a decision to make. the type of bridgr represents the depth of the decision how u feel abt making it. for eg. a metal one says u r more sure of ur decision and a rope one says that ur decision is unstable and u r not sure abt it. but hey i am no doctor thats just what i think
