Depends on whether you are from a rich or poor family. If rich family be the eldest - first in line to enjoy the goodies. If poor family be the youngest - last in line to do the housework. If middle-class family no difference.

I am second oldest.
I have a older brother by 2yrs a sister 2 yrs younger and another brother 7 years younger.
The Oldest is special he is first. The daughter is special ,she is the only girl and the youngest is special he is the baby of the family.
I married a only child and I can see she was some what spoiled, never had to share or wait for a turn. We have two sons I wanted more but we couldn't.
It is fun to have brothers and a sister to talk to and play with as kids , I never Knew anything else. We also had fights but that is a learning thing to.

I am the youngest of 8 children. We have an age range from 79(my sister) and 59(me).
The breakdown is: 2 sisters, 5 brothers, me(female). Many times growing up I felt as if I was alone. My brothers and sisters were out with friends. One sister was already married, then eventually they all married, had children, etc. I felt that I grew up more with my nieces and nephews than I did with my siblings. I was in between.
Some of my siblings thought it was OK to boss me around. I guess that's how they grew up, the older ones telling the younger ones what to do. I don't know.
I know I got ratted out a lot. Too many eyes watching me.
Now that I'm a lot older, most of my siblings treat me as an equal as should be, however, there are 2 who still think that I have no right to speak up. We no longer communicate.
All in all, I'm glad that I came from a big family. There were many fun times. We don't see each other much anymore, but we're there for each other.
I'm glad that I am the youngest. I was raised differently than the older ones.
Hope this helps you.

I'm the youngest (the seventh) and I don't like it. People assume you are spoiled. YOur parents try to do everything so they aren't spoiling you and go too far the other way. You can never be individual or unique or the first to do something. If you pull an A in Chemistry and you are really proud of yourself, you go home and your parents say, "good job. I hope you didn't cheat and use Laura's notes. She was always really good at Chemistry." Or "Maybe you should get help from Adam. He always got A pluses in Chemistry." My sister who is one of the oldest (she has a twin brother) says she was always expected to give a good example to us and take care of us and my parents didn't know what they were doing yet. My brother in the middle is pretty cool, and he's so positive that the only bad thing he'll say about his place is that my mom calls him by my other brother's name, and he always had to have hand-me-downs and give his favorite clothes to the younger ones. So, I guess I'd say middle. Just find the good in your own situation. All of my brothers and sisters have moved out now and I've lived with my old parents for these past four years of highschool. Just me and them. I'm so used to having six other playmates around, and since my parents are so old, it's really hard. They go to bed by like 8:00 and don't want people over and don't want me to stay out so they feel they have to stay up for me. Bah! But I don't have to share a room anymore. So what? I'm used to having at least two sisters with me and it's lonely!!!! So I wouldn't want to be an only child, either.

I'm the youngest, and I only have one older sister who is 5 years older than me. She is like my best friend now but we didn't always get along and sometimes i wished she was closer to my age.

and sometimes i wish that i knew what it was like to be the oldest just cause everything i ever experience, my sister has gone through first so it never seems as exciting when i do it

and then other times i wish that i had a brother, either older or younger.

i am the oldest in my family but i wish that i was the youngest. i think that it is the opposite of where anyone is standing. like if ur an olny child youd wish you had siblings if you was the oldest you wish you were the youngest etc. dont you think? i do...the grass is always greener on the other side..lol

I think that the middle child gets treated differently to the others. the eldest gets treated like a 'adult' and the youngest gets treated like the 'baby' and this meaning that they get more attention than the middle child and the middle child feels left out. I call it middle child syndrome.

I like being the oldest, because I'm kind of spoiled but I wouldn't mind having another brohter or sister considering I only have one younger brother righ't now.
