In their attempt to polish Islam's image, Muslim activists usually quote the Meccan passages of the Quran that call for love, peace and patience. They deliberately hide the Medenan passages that call for killing, decapitating, and maiming.

Muslim activists also fail to reveal to people in the West a major doctrine in Islam called "al-Nasikh wal-Mansoukh" (the Abrogator and the Abrogated). This simply means that when a recent verse in the Quran gives a contradictory view to another verse that preceded it (chronologically), the recent verse abrogates (cancels and replaces) the old verse and renders it null and void.

This doctrine is based on the Quran, where Allah allegedly says in Surah 2:106, "None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?" Also, in Surah 16:101 "When We substitute one revelation for another, and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),

One of Islam's classical reference books, written by a recognized Muslim scholar, deals in great detail with the subject. The title of the book is "al-Nasikh wal-Mansoukh" (The Abrogator and the Abrogated) by Abil-Kasim Hibat-Allah Ibn-Salama Abi-Nasr. The book goes through every chapter in the Quran and points in full detail to every verse that has been canceled and what verse replaced it. The author noted that out of 114 Surahs (chapters) of the Quran, there are only 43 Surahs that were not affected by this concept.

An example of the abrogation: there are 124 versus that call for tolerance and patience which have been canceled and replaced by this one single verse: "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)....." Surah 9:5

One doesn't help but wonder: how Allah, the all-powerful, the all-knowing, needs to revise himself so often?

Good. I think you hit on it. What you say is true about them not quoting from the earlier writings that were written in Medina.
See if you can find these two books-"Islam Revealed", and "The Liberated Palestinian" by Dr Annis Shorrosh. He does a good job exposing Islam for what it really is.

I am a Muslim and I do not consider any verse to be cancelled or nullified by another verse. There can be verses revealed progressively(like in the case of alchohol prohibition) but the earlier verses still are valid and are valid and still to be obeyed. (There is no earlier verse allowing alchohol)

Quran should be followed completely. See this verse
"Do you then believe in a part of the Book and disbelieve in the other? What then is the re ward of such among you as do this but disgrace in the life of this world, and on the day of resurrection they shall be sent back to the most grievous chastisement, and Allah is not at all heedless of what you do. " Quran 2: 85

No verse was abrogated actually if it means cancellation. For example, in some verse consumption of alcohol was limited and in some later verse it was forbidden. In the previous verse God forbade to drink alcohol during prayers and in the later He forbade it permanently. If you read in details the context and exegesis of
those verses it won't seem to you contradictory but rather justified.
Why God did something and why not? God knows better. We are not to judge him. The Medinan verses calls Muslims who were persecuted that time--to rise up and fight against their persecutors.
It was the time when God decided that the Muslims were ready to fight their persecutors. The verse that you quoted is taken out of context. To get insight--read the Tafsir or Exegesis.

My friend Ahmet is Islamic. He says there are many versions of Muslims. Muslims are going through a reformation. So some are like that. Some are good. My girlfriend reads the Bible and there are very violent parts of the Bible too. So it depends on the person

All that you say is indeed true. But are you not aware that the bible is equally riddled with errancy, contradiction, cruelty and just plain nonsense?

For annotations highlighting the drivel, check out http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com

If you doubt any of it, check it against your own bible. To be filled with such venom for the Qu'uran over such silly details, I strongly suspect you have not studied the bible very carefully!

Why don't you just read the Quran and stop all this nonsense. Stop picking apart the Quran and just read it. May Allah guide us all.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head. My cousin and his wife read the koran and said it was full of hate. This confirms it.
