We're in a war against terrorists, not other countries per say. So, we are not in WWIII. The current crisis between Israel and Lebanon is not, and will not, be WWIII even if we get involved. A world war is just that, a war fought on many different fronts between many countries. Unfortunately, history has been known to repeat itself, and eventually we will probably come across another leader with the ambitions of Hitler. It won't happen over this crisis, but someday it will.

The first problem most people need to think through is... define WWIII. If you are talking about another war in which a majority of the world has polarized views on the same conflict and are fighting to destroy each other.... no. In this case, a few countries are either fighting to destroy Israel, or Hezbollah. I dont think any other country is willing to throw its soldiers into a fight between these two adversaries. Iran knows that if it commits troops to the fight, then other countries (specifically the U.S.A.) would likely respond in kind. Right now, its two enemies duking it out, with verbal support from others.

I will say this... If the USA makes a foolish mistake and launches against Iran's nuclear "threat" then this could easily escalate into a World War.

Consider this... what if a major conflict occured over there...what would China and North Korea do? China would invade Taiwan, and North Korea would likely attack South Korea (or Japan). Food for thought.

WWIII started long ago with the birth of Extremism (with all the religions). It only began to build up speed with the first Gulf War because of a greater split between East and West mistakenly seen as a split between Christianity and Islam. I think it's definitely a possibility. Especially if Israel attacks Iran and/or the US gets involved.
