if we as owners do not do a better job of keeping our dogs in check all pitbulls are going to be rare my wife and i have 7 some we've saved from the pound and our county tried to pass a law against pitbulls but a group of us dog owners showed up at meetings and had it changed to a dangerous dog law which includes all dogs. But laws are being passed all over country against pitbulls. and before long there will not be any pitbulls. sorry if I'm a little long winded but i love my dogs and i don't want anyone to be able to just take them away just because of what kind of dog it is. they are some of the smartest and sweetest dogs I've ever had all they want is someone to love them and they will love you back you can see it in there faces. It's the owners that make bad dogs you can make any dog mean. so all dog owners need to pay attention to what kind of laws are being passed. If they get the pitbull what pet is gonna be next. Yours if someone thinks you should not own it. well i could go on but just a little warning you may want to keep up with what kind of laws are being passed in your state or city or county or they may be knocking on your door to take your family member away

Lovebug, thanks for the posting that site. Just maybe someone will check it out and learn something. The rarest APBT is a game dog. This is what the dog is . Read about Sparks, Colby, Sorrel, Carver, Mr. Floyd Boudreax, Corvino, and the many other great dogmen that spent their lives keeping the best in the best. This cannot be argued like religion because the facts can be found. Backyard breeders and breeding for color are just two of the things that are destroying this breed. These 100 lb. Pig Bulls are`nt Apbt`s either. Buy me!! But I can`t do nothing like my ancestors.

Why would you care? And what you define as "Pitbull"? There is technically no such thing as a Pitbull. There are many types or breeds of dogs that have been used for pit fighting, including American PitBull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldogs, Staffordshire Terriers, etc.
But civilized people have outlawed the so-called sport of fighting dogs, the term "Pitbull" is extraneous.

Do you mean the American Pitbull Terrier?

There are NO "rare" pit bull coat or nose colors. Historically, pit bulls have been bred for performance and temperament, not appearance. This means that pit bulls come in all different colors, shapes, and sizes. "Blue" coats (which are really just diluted black or grey coats) are in fact a fad color right now, and greedy breeders are churning out "blue" dogs to make money off the fad, without concern for temperament or health. Similarly, "red nosed" pit bulls are very common. White pit bulls are often deaf. For more details about "rare" pit bulls, visit: http://www.realpitbull.com/myths.html
