Hundreds of thousands of people who are infected with HIV are leading happy, basically normal lives because of drug treatments available now. They work, do sports, go to school, and they look perfectly healthy too. It is not a perfect solution--you have to get the drugs, pay for them, remember to take them, and sometimes they have unpleasant side effects, but life can be fun, the person might as well enjoy it!

There are many who suffer with cancer, Aids, handicaps, abuse, etc and they don't think of sucide, but turn to their faith for strength. I would suggest you try to get this person into counseling whether it is clergy or clinical. While thoughts of sucide may occur to people whose circumstances are terminal, it also occurs to those who are not. I would also say that advances in medicine have helped improved the quality and quantity of life.

I am living with survivors of someone who DID commit suicide. Knowing this could happen because of many vocal threats but not ever thinking it would happen. Suicide is selfish. You think that this final act will stop the anger and fear you may be feeling. It stops all and those who love you will live knowing you did this and it will hurt them as long as they live. Those who love you and want you to live your life best you can are helpless against the thoughts in your mind, you thinking of taking their own life...this life that we have but one true guarantee..life does end and life will end..why do this of which you know nothing of? I went through two very important people in my life lose their lives to cancer. Not wanting to leave but the cancer give them no choice. This person didn't chose to contract HIV/AIDS nor did the one who gave it to them. Life only has that one true guarantee....Life does end and we have no choice but to face it best we can ... why make a choice to take your life and end those feelings you have. I would say to you to STOP thinking the only thing left to do is take your life. Face what life you have left. Dare yourself to do those things you've always wanted to do. The survivors in my life now....I've never seen this kind of pain and sorrow.

The only answer I could give is that I was a suicidal person myself. Not because of any disease but I didn't have any self respect and always felt sorry for myself. there is something worse than having HIV/aids,and that is spending eternity in a hell with all the people that are giving it to people.

You CANNOT convince someone else that life is worth living if they are determined to commit suicide....but you CAN be that example of a life that is content and fortunate with whatever you have...take time to be with your friend...take walks...talk about your trials and how you have persevered in spite of misfortune...you can even 'accidentally' meet a grief counselor...someone who may be able to offer your friend practical solutions... rather than decisions based on fear...of the unknown...LIFE IS worth living...it is a great gift...peace

Life IS worth living...a person can die in the next minute and we arent guarenteed tomorrow...but what we do with each minute we are able to take a breath is what is important. Make it right with God...Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor..if you do this...you are doing what you need to do while here on earth...receive forgiveness by asking Jesus to be your savior...he died for everyones sins..all we need to do is ask him to be our personal sacrifice..he will forgive all and help get a relationship with him...the best friend you can trust...Try to find what your reason is for being on earth..and while your here whether a day or a century...live it loving God and others..forgive all...help when you can

It isn't your life, so it is really none of your concern.
If the person makes a determination that his life is of no further purpose to him, he is free to do whatever he wants with it.
It is unfortunate that suicide has been demonized. For some people it is a valid option. But, that is their choice, not anyone else's.

tell them that now they can do everything they've ever wanted to do before death because they have the advantage of knowing when they're gonna die some people die instantly in a car crash and never get to do or say everything they've wanted to in their life. its not good having aids but think on the bright side!
