I mean, no one can seem to accept Christ's sacrifice... they think they have to DO something... why? He says he is THE way doesnt he? I am sorry if this offends anyone, I'm just curious.

Because they feel the need to do something for their salvation.

But that's human works!

"By Grace you have been save, through faith, not of yourselves (works), lest any man shall boast!"

Christ is THE way in the sense that if you believe and truly understand his real message, then you'll build enough sense to start making the right decisions to be the best human being possible. He is not THE way in the sense that his sacrifices now nullify you from being subjected to divine punishment.

Most people make it difficult to believe that heaven is more attainable than not because they themselves don't believe they deserve it. They believe that after being such great sinners, there's no way that heaven could be theirs; and they don't believe in the Al-Forgiving and Merciful God. True Repentence is more powerful than a lifetime of conceited prayers and good deeds, thinks I.

We all like to think we are special and of an elite group. The ultimate elite group being the israelites God's "chosen people" who never got it right.

If anyone can get in and they only have to pay what they can afford it's not fair in human eyes.

We argue I sacrificed more so I am more deserving and I get better seats. Christ says NOT.

Yeah some people blow it out of proportion, but you don't just get to heaven by just living your life however you want it. The bible says that you must be a child of god to be accepted into his family. And the way to become a child of God, is to be baptised. Therefore, in theory, although god loves all of the humans on earth, if they weren't baptised they wouldn't go to heaven. And yes, jesus forgives our sins, but when you purposely sin, swearing, lustful thoughts and such, it is forgiven, but god still never forgets.

Jesus taught us that He is the way and the truth and the life. There is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven. All we can do is accept the free give of eternal life from our Father who loves us.

I think it is a natural instinct to try and earn our way. We want to feel we deserve it. We want to be in control somehow.

Good point...

The gospel is very simple... for a brief explanation of the gospel (of salvation through Jesus Christ), see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John

Luke 13:23 And someone said to him, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?" And he said to them, 24 "Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, open to us,' then he will answer you, 'I do not know where you come from.' 26 Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.' 27 But he will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!'

John 10:7 So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

It takes away power. People don't like to think that the only way to save ourselves is to surrender ourselves to God. Its humbling. So they try to make a way for themselves to earn their own redemption.

It is our sinful nature coming into play. We want to feel like we are in control or that we have a hand in our salvation. It makes us feel powerful to know that we somewhat control our fate.

I believe people are so filled with hatred that they forget what Jesus Christ, our Savior, was all about.

God Bless!
