Well first things first remember your dog picks up and reacts on your emotions much like a little child may. I have found the easist way for me is to just take your puppy outside every20-30 minutes if its a young pup longer for older but especially after they wake and eat/drink or when you see the signs. until you get the response you want then praise praise praise. have a treat ready and tell him good boy. And when they actually do the act say good boy potty (and repeat it so they put the act and word together).... POTTY or whatever you want to call it. After a bit start asking it if it wants to go potty ask it in a happy playful voice and try and get a response....i.e. them barking going to the door.... that means they are getting it and they will remember to let you know they need to go. If you are cathcing him in the act startle (not scare) him so he will stop and talk him outside or to the papers right away and once again prasie and say good boy point so they can start to figure it out. If all else fails and you can't catch him in time look for the signs. pacing circling sniffing trying to hide from your veiw nudging you and you cant figure out why.... Even if they don't go to to potty when you think they are trying to tell you it is still a good thing you took them out. Hope this helps.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aNNOE
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Lindsay P is right on. Get the dog out every couple of hours. Use the same door to go out so they know to go there when they need to go. I use the word "hurry" also 'cause that's usually what I'm in. Good luck. Dogs may regress around 8 months so don't start looking the other way too soon. Also, don't paper train. They'll never stop going in the house if you do.

I would start with making a simple command to potty. I use "hurry" with my dogs - every time you take the dog out to go potty - give them the command and praise them and say "good hurry" (or whatever command you choose) after they go and they will learn very quickly what you are asking of them. When there is an accident in the house - make sure you let them know that is not ok, and bring them outside. it is best when potty training not to let them have a large area to roam indoors since they will most likely have an accident that way, make sure they have outdoor access - doggy doors are great :) The potty command also comes in handy when visiting friends or the pet store to command them to potty before entering buildings ect. good luck!

Every time they start to go (chatch them as soon as they start to squat or lift a leg!) pick them up and rush them to the right place, whether it's outside (which is best) or on papers. As soon as they do their thing in the right place, give them major major praise, even a little treat now and then. Don't punish when they have accidents though, it's up to you to be on top of things and make sure they get to where they need to be.
It will also help to crate train your dog at the same time. Once the dog understands that the crate is their home, they'll do all they can to avoid soiling in it. Whenever they come out of their crate, take them dirctly to their potty place, again, praising as soon as they go.

Take your puppy outside where you want him/her to go about every two hours or when he wakes up from sleeping, after hard play, or after eating. Every time he begins going in the house pick him up and run him outside to the prefered spot. Use a word like "potty" or "do your business" to let him know that that's what he supposed to be doing. Once he goes, praise, praise, praise! Make a BIG deal out of it..just like a child going potty in the toilet. If they have an accident in the house, simply take them outside and use the "potty" command. Wether they go or not, take them outside. Then clean up the mess and spray it with lysol or some such produce to eliminate the scent. This will help prevent him going there again. Don't punish him for accidents. Just be patient. Notice when he starts to pace or sniff like he has to go out and get him outside. Eventually he will let you know when he has to go outside. He's a baby so patience and praise are your best tools. Good luck!
