In my opinion, puppies should NOT be shipped! EVER! It can create permanent damage to the dog's temperament - bad experiences between eight and sixteen weeks can become lifelong phobias. Take the dog with you by car, where you can ensure that plenty of rest stops are made and the puppy isn't traumatized.

If you're going to ship a puppy, make sure that the crate is big enough and comfortable enough for the dog. If a breeder is shipping it for you, ask them about it.
The best airlines to ship are Delta Airlines and Continental Airlines. The pup(s) are in a controlled enviroment the whole plane ride. The prices range from $250 to $350.
Good luck.

You need an airline approved crate of the right size for the dog. I would look for the most direct flight - non-stop is best. Call the airlines. My breeder is one of the best in the country and he had no issues with shipping my dog at 3 months. The airlines take extra care of these animals and they are not shipped in unpressurized cargo holds. It cost me $350 with the crate from Cleveland to Newark, NJ.

I know it costs about$250.00 to ship. There are only one or two airlines that even accept dogs to ship and I can't remember which ones they are. But that is a normal ship fee. If the breeder sends someone with to deliver the puppy, then you pay for that too.
You can check which airlines by clicking on any of the dog sites.

Do you need information to ship puppies yourself,
or info to have a puppy shipped to you?
There are several things to consider.
Where will the puppy be coming from or going to?
How old is the puppy?
What does the puppy weigh?
What breed is the puppy.
Please give more information, you can go back in and edit your question or check my profile and email me direct.

ALL airlines have a WRITTEN POLICY/RULES for shipping live animals. ALL have web sites *&* 800 numbers. ASK DIRECTLY!
No shipping at 85+ degrees-75+ for "flat-faced" breeds.
Shipping by air IS NO BIG DEAL!!! Thousands are done every day. ONLY use NON-STOP flights.

As a breeder, I will not ship dogs. I think it is inhumane.
