I think that the possibilities involved with Stem Cell Research are astounding, and could possibly solve or comfort so many people in horrible medical situations. My mom died of Lou Gherig's Disease, which could possibly be solved just from one stem cell. I don't think Dubya was right to put a veto on something that the senate so overwhelmingly supported.

I don't think so, and my opinion is not politically motivated.

If Stem Cells were so promising, why isn't private industry investing money. The only thing batted around the political arena is Federal funding. But lack of federal funding has never stopped investors from identifying a truly good idea. Yet little investment is seen in the private sector. If stem cell research had the potential claimed, stock in stem cell research firms would grow faster than Microsoft.

But that ain't happening. The only conclusion - The claimed potential is overstated compared to the true potential

Adult Stem Cell Research is just as promising as Embroynic Stem Cell Research. Why do you have to pull apart embryos when you can just take fat cells. There are many stem cells embedded in adult far. so George Bush was right in vetoing the bill.

There's a HUGE amount of private investment in stem cell research. Also, while adult stem cell therapy is showing great promise, all stem cells aren't equivalent. Furthermore, the government should be funding research without regard to the currently popular ideology or not at all.

Stem cell research is the key in unlocking a host of incurable diseases. US has the opportunity to set the pace in this area, President G. Bush is making a big mistake. Companies will just setup labs around the world hence taking jobs away from here. He cannot stop the inevitable, just delay it.

There is a huge potential for treatment & cures of numerous conditions. Bush is only pandering to the far right wingers and is doing a disservice to those who could be helped w/stem cell research.

I understand stem cell has good promise. However, nobody will know for sure until the research is done--no future research of any kind has any gaurantees.

While I disagree with President Bush, my disagreement is with the definition of when life begins.

For one who thinks a dozen cells constitute a human being, President Bush took a principled position.

For myself, I consider those embryos a POTENTIAL human being, not a human being in fact.

I compliment you for the rational phrasing of your question. Over-heated rhetoric on boths sides are counter-productive in a democratic society.

I am pro life, but....

No one is stopping the private community from pursuing stem cell research.

President Bush is just saying the the US government is not going to pay for stem cell research that involves embryos.

Get over it!!

Bush is never right. He's retarded.

Of all his voting record, this is the only bill he vetoed. The lobbysts have him in their pocket and he only did this to appease voters for the congressional elections in November.

People voting purely Rupublican don't think too much about these things. They are what you call, dumb.

I do feel it is the answer to a lot of treatments. Probably more than they even are thinking currently.
