This assumes that the person isn't going to die from some other cause before they reach a ripe old age. We had a doctor in my town who was a smoker and kinda chubby, plus his father died at a young age of an MI (heart attack) so he turned forty and quit smoking and started running. About two months later he was out running and got hit and killed by a drunk driver. If he had just stuck to his 'unhealthy' lifestyle he would probably still be alive. Ironic, no?

No, I don't believe that at all. My mom was a 3 pack a day smoker from age 14 until she was 71. She quit smoking when she went in the hospital for back surgery. She hasn't smoked since, she is now 81 and as healthy as ever. Figure it out. If she lost 8 minutes of her life for every cig she smoked, she would be dead by now.

Technically... since it can take someone 8 minutes to smoke one, and that time could have been spent doing something much more useful.. after a couple packs, the time starts to add up. It probably literally shortens your life span aswell.

Yes considering cigarettes contain Benzene, Formaldehyde, Ammonia, Acetone, Tar, Nicotine, Carbon Monoxide, Arsenic & Hydrogen Cyanide in them. I am a chemical lab tech, I work with Formaldehyde, Ammonia, Acetone, Arsenic and Cyanide daily - I have seen the Material Safety Data Sheets on them and all are extremely harmful or fatal in the case of Cyanide.

Absolutely. If you worked in the hospital for a week with me you would be absolutely horrified at the amount of cancer patients that come in with some other problem and we find cancer in them. Almost all of them have a huge smoking history.... It's really sad.. I wish everyone could see the direct problems that are caused by smoking..

No - there are some people who handle smoking without batting an eye. This is not the majority, however, and kills more often than not.
