I'll give you suggestions that are actually in Tribeca (two of the three posts to this point are not in Tribeca). On the expensive end, Bouley (French), Nobu/Next Door Nobu (Japanese), Chanterelle (French), Montrachet (French) and Danube (Austrian)are all well regarded (I love Bouley!).
Next level down are Centrico (Mexican), The Harrison (New American), and Duane Park Cafe (Japanese/American). I think Duane Park Cafe is one of the most underrated restaurants in the city.
Happy Eating!

If you want to try something a little different but very cool, try The Yard on Broadway. Have a look at this website to find out about it: http://cityguide.aol.com/newyork/dining/venue.adp?town=237&cat=vt%5f45%5fst%5f%2a&page=detailSummary&id=135067&skip=23&back=search%252eadp%253ftown%253d237%2526cat%253dvt%25255f45%25255fst%25255f%25252a%2526page%253dlistingsLong%2526skip%253d20%2526layer%253dvenues&layer=venues
