Bandon!!
A delightful tiny town, with all kinds of little shops, a harbour, and friendly people. Not as many places to stay though, so you may want to arrange in advance ... even consider a bed and breakfast.

Coos Bay is much larger than Bandon, but has lots of interesting things to do and see also, and lodging is more plentiful and possibly less expensive. Food establishments are also more plentiful. There is a walkway along the bay, a lovely small city park called Mingus Park with a walkway around the pond and a small japanese garden. About 7 miles west there are the ocean beaches. One of them, Shoreacres, has a wonderful botanical garden. There is a $3 parking fee, well worth it.

Coos Bay also has a "mall" of sorts (called Pony Village), walmart, and other shopping, while Bandons is primarily the little touristy shops (wonderful though).

Coos Bay has movie thearers, and a live theatre called Little Theatre on the Bay ... you can look up on the web if any plays are being held while you go through. Coos Bay also has a music festival, and other celebrations, and Bandon has one too, but you will have to look up when they are.

For amenities, stay in Coos Bay, for pure atmosphere, do Bandon. Also, there is a "Deer Park" just south of Bandon .. it's a small animal refuge.

I gotta agree witht the answer above me, Bandon it is. Coos Bay aint bad, but Bandon would be a better place to stay over night. (no offense to coos-onians) Don't miss Florence on your way down though, just lovely.
