Your points go up by answering questions (you lose points by asking questions). You get to points for each question you answer. The more points you have the higher level you are. Your points don't go up when you get to level two, but when they go up you can reach level two. Get it?
If you give a good answer and the person asking the question picks your question as the best, you can get 10 extra points.

The points are the same regardless of level. You get to level two by answering questions and accumulating points. Give good, thoughful answers and you will get an extra 10 points if selected as Best Answer. Just stick with it.

No, really, 250 points for level 2.
Answering questions = 2 points
Voting on a best answer = 1 point
Rating a thumbs up best answer = 1 point
Being chosen as a best answer = 10 points
Just keep answering, voting & rating.

At 250 points, you're at level 2. You don't get more points, but you can answer and ask more questions per log-in. Just keep on answering, and when you use up all your answers, start voting for best answers and rating best answers. The points will really add up fast!

do many cynical things...It’s the place to ask questions and get real answers from real people. It’s fun and educational because you get to ask questions on any topic—from the serious to the not so serious. You can also help people out by answering others' questions. It’s all about sharing—what you know and what you want to know—so don’t keep those questions and answers to yourself...jump in and start sharing
Yahoo! Help is not an Internet Search.
The purpose of Yahoo! Help is to answer your questions about Yahoo! Features and Services. Please visit http://search.yahoo.com/ to search the web.
Question format.
Yahoo! Help is able to answer natural language queries. So, it will know the difference between "How can I change my password?" and "What is my password?". We strongly recommend that you be as specific as possible when entering your query. The more detailed the question the better the results.
Good sample questions have ample information and are not vague:
How do I create a web page?
How do I use Yahoo! Address AutoComplete?
How do I cancel my account?
Vague questions are likely to bring back vague answers:
web page
AutoComplete
Cancel
Only include concepts relevant to your question.
If your question contains irrelevant concepts, the engine is less likely to succeed in answering your question. For example, "I bid on a necklace on Yahoo! Auctions and then changed my mind and I no longer want it. How do I cancel my bid?" has extra concepts. "How do I cancel my bid?" will be more effective.
Spelling is important for a successful search.
If you aren't getting the results you want, double-check the spelling of your question.
Boolean operators like "AND", "NOT", and "OR" are not necessary, and will be treated as words in your question rather than as logical operators.

Just keep answering people's questions. My advice is to take the questions seriously and take the challenge of not answering questions that are obvious just to get the two points for answering. Instead, answer a question that you have a strong connection too. You might even earn 15 or so points for having yours chosen as the best answer, so put your time and effort into it.

You can only answer so many questions a day so the main thing is to answer the maximum and answer them well so that hopefully some of your answers will win the "best answer" and you can pick up a lot more points that way and advance to the next level sooner. Good luck.

No, points never change. The only real way to rack up enough points to get through the levels (besides answering 12,000 questions) is to give good answers for 10 points each.
