get to your school counselor now and tell her how long this has been going on and tell her the whole story including your mother's attitude

Doing anything that makes YOU happy is what counts. Your mum's reaction doesn't help and you probably feel more alone as a result. When I do get depressed, I make a point of getting out of bed in the morning and saying "Today I am going to have a good day!" and faking a good mood for the day, after a few days this tends to help - not a cure but at least I am not at the bottom of the ditch anymore. Any stay away from things that you can't change, like the worlds problems - change what you can! Also you will have to confront what has been making you sad eventually - otherwise your depression will get worse.

Find the article about the "tough guy" Terry Bradshaw (very tough Quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 70's). He didn't know what was happening to him until he sought help. It was DEPRESSION and now he takes medication. If HE can cry and feel worthless and still admit he needs help (being such an athlete, then u can to!!) The article was part of the "Washington Post" on June 20, 2004 in the "Parade" section. This article hangs on my brothers bedroom wall and inspires him. Your mother must know with help from a HS counselor that you don't simply have the "blues". GOOD LUCK!!

i know exactly how u feel girl. listen to me. it's not just ur mom. it's hard to tell *anybody* that ur depressed, because no one seems to understand. this is what i did: i got a puppy. a brand new puppy. he follows me around everywhere, wants to play, wants my attention, and most importantly : he loves me. its nice to know that someone (or something) can love u just for being u, so getting a dog or cat is a great way to relieve depression. it didn't actually stop me from being depressed, however, it makes me feel good to have something that loves me as much as my puppy does. that can be very comforting.

i'm no doctor, but it seems like ur clinically depressed. in addition with the puppy or kitty example, seek help. nothing else can make depression go away. even if u do something fun like the beach or the movies the depression feeling will come back. tell ur mom u dont feel well and make her take u to the doctor. then tell the doctor how ur feeling. the doctor will be able to explain the risks of depression to ur mom and tell her how seious it is. if ur in high school, u could also see ur guidance counselor. u have got to seek help because unfortunately, depression get's unnoticed most of the time, and there is a high risk of suicide. seeking help can relieve the depression before it's too late.

Your mom's right in one fact - part of being a teen is hormones out of wack and them affecting your emotions. That means you really MIGHT grow out of it. That's a plus.

Even if it is a temporary thing, and you might grow out of it - you still have a right to feel better, without just having to say "this too, shall pass."

If you mom won't talk - you can talk to friends. If you can't address friends, you can talk to someone else - a school counselor, or someone at a teen resource center like the Boys and Girls club might be able to help you find summer help.

For things that you can do if you don't want to go that far - you can look around your town for other things too. Go to the library, see a funny movie, go for a walk on the beach and feel the sand in your toes, or whatever the scenes of your area is. Watch the stars pop out, feel the wind in your hair. And, when it's more than just needing good things, but finding good reasons - talk to someone.

You need support and help - immediately.

Sometimes you have to consider your own health and safety over the confines others try to impose on you. I have some numbers where you WILL get help. All you have to do is ask.

I am very proud of you for seeking help. It takes a lot of courage to continue seeking help when those in authority are not supportive of your needs. There is not doubt in my mind that, with this attitude, you will get better.

please talk to your school counselor and tell her all your feelings like you did here. Please. Have you told your mom you think life is hopeless and no meaning? if you dont want to talk to the school counselor, talk to a trusted adult. an aunt, uncle, teacher, some adult you could trust. if you look in the phone book there are numbers you can call and they talk with you and help you, no matter what the issue. Try calling 411 and getting the number to the national boys and girls town hotline number. Do you go to church? Not to preach on you but God loves you and church is uplifting. Get oustide in the sun alot, there are medicines for this you just have to get the point across that you are serious. Im sorry your mom cant see your pain.Good luck hon, God be with you.

You have several options...
1. Talk to another trusted adult.
2. Wait until school is back in and go talk to your guidance counselor.
3. If you don't have anyone else find someway to get your Mom to take you to a doctor (or make an appointment yourself).

You need to get help now. Many times depression comes from an inbalance of seratonin and dopamine levels in your brain. It can also be a result of things that have happened to you or the environment in which you live/function.

good luck.

Get professional help. Depression is very serious and I know how hopeless you must feel. If you do not get help now, it could get much worse. If you don't feel comfortable talking with an adult, tell a person or friend that is extremely loyal and close to you... Get help now! it's the best thing you can do for yourself, so you can start enjoying your life! Good Luck!

Get a dog. There's no better cure for depression than another being thinking you're the greatest thing alive. Mothers never want to hear their child is depressed. Then they start questioning what they did wrong. And if your mother is abusive, she then realizes she is responsible, which she will deny for sure. See a mental health professional on your own if your family will not believe you. It's not worth spending your life in depression, or worse yet, ending in suicide.

You are NOT depressed, you are a 13 year old little girl who just listens to Panic! At the Disco too much, wears too much black eyeliner and WANTS to be depressed. Seriously, get over yourself. Your mother is right.
